Provincewide fire ban in effect for all Alberta forests

The province has been in a full fire ban in all Alberta forests.

EDMONTON - The province has banned fires in all forests provincewide.

That includes campfires and charcoal briquettes in campgrounds or backcountry and other areas, as well as all provincial forest protection areas. Others areas, such as municipalities and provincial parks, may issue their own fire restrictions.

As of 10 a.m. Monday 29 wildfires were burning across Alberta, including a 200-hectare one near Wabasca. Approximately 2,000 residents of Wabasca were evacuated Sunday night.

Hot, dry weather is forecasted for at least another week, increasing the risk wildfires, the province said.

We do need a lot of rain, hopefully we get some soon!!!

But the ban does NOT include inside the city, bbq's and proper fire pits. At least not here in Cowtown

Parkland Village fire department was hooking up to their tracked 6x6 ranger and heading west when I came home from work. Looks to be moving West now across the Paul band reserve

I was driving back from lloyd and seen many fires and even seen a semi driver through a cigarette but out the window, when it hit the road it sparked quite a bit. The fire around manville appears to have started in the ditch and moved south.
