maybe install a camera and recording system or a couple wildlife cameras. It wont deter them, but you will get some nice candid shots to share with the police or other "interested parties".

What ever system you get do a false alarm regularly to make sure the doe heads are monitoring you properly. My parents travel and rely on the system heavily. Mom tripped the system one time and was having issues resetting it. Had to call dad over the phone. Mean while no contact was made at all from the alarm company.
Dad later called them a chewed a strip off of them and proceeded to look for a new system.......Not sure who he was with then. I can find out if interested.....

My vivint one they can listen in. My parents turned the alarm on and couldnt turn it off. The company couldnt reach me right away but they talked to my dad threw the box. They finally got a hold of me and knew everything about my dad and kept the police away. Also if you enter 2580 default and changeable it will turn off alarm but listen in in the case you are being held up or house raided.

well I guess I will be in the market for an alarm after a POS made eye to eye contact with my 15 year old on our rear deck last night. We live is a rural area so pretty dark out back other than deck lights. Fortunately we were visiting our next door neighbours so I ran like an SOB after getting the frightening call from her. This will now bother her for a long time. House was wired when we built it so I think I am just going to get a loud horn and sensors. Pretty balsy of him considering cars in the driveway and lights on in the house. Grrrrrr

I have Vivint, came home disarmed the system (or so i thought) punched in the "panic code" which is supposed to mean the intruder is still in the house. Looks like you disarm it but you send out a distress instead. Anyway I thought that was our disarm code, sitting on the couch having a beer an hour later the police come screeching sideways in front of my house lights going and.... knock on the door? Little late and if I was in distress come on in....
My point is the system can be the best but your still reliant on the authorities to react in time.
FYI the police station is 3 mins from my house if you make a pit stop at tims on the way by.

over the weekend we found out this creep tried to lure a 6 year old into his car and police just happened to come around the corner when it took place (they could not arrest him as they only seen him speaking to her). His description matches plus last Wed he drove by my daughter 6 times in a Volvo wagon……….. same car he was in trying to lure the 6 year old. Police now have taken this seriously as it seems he is bound and determined.

Wife seen posts about this on Facebook. From what I got its a blue Volvo so I'll be watching in the blindbay area, and it won't be pretty if he approaches one of my daughters. We already had one child porn faktard arrested not far from here. Loser was useing the free wifi at the sorrento fire hall for access.

that would be my wife posting and the other mother with 6 year old. Cops got a bit of egg on face and now this has gone viral they are working extra hard with calls/meetings with us and the other parents. Apparently two officers are in a bit of trouble as they did not start a paper trail when initially reported or interviewed us.

So currently we have a hard wired system , windows, doors, garage doors all done during our house build. 2 panels 1 at the front door 1 in our bedroom. Full monitoring for exterior entry while home and motion activated while away. Also back up battery setup.

No video...

Last night at 3 am , some guy try's to break the front door glass and door. Dogs go crazy.

We had the alarm activated in home mode so door entry or windows and glass breakage. We never pushed the panic button but we should have.

Val calls 911 and RCMP take guy away. Tomorrow I work and will get guys name etc.

Yes I know he wanted to break glass and turn deadbolt.

Also 10 to 20 yards use 12 gage buckshot
20 to 30 use bow
30 to 40 use handgun
40 to 400 yards 300 mag.

I want to get security cameras installed with monitors to go to I Pad and I Phone

So we can see who is at the door. And have it recorded.

Any advise or expertise or experience would be great.

Thanks Ray & Val

Scary deal Ray. Glad he didn't make it in.. But I want a camera to. Even your game camera would work. Glad the RCMP caught him
