Wow - Ford ecoboost horror story

Thought I'd link this over here, makes for an interesting read on how Ford dealt with this guy after having three engines blow up in his truck.

Long story short, he had three engines go in his truck in only a couple months, and Ford is pretty much sitting on thier hands when it comes to repairing it. He lists the dealers involved as well.

no doubt. from reading that thread it looks like there are quite a few problems with the eco boost. interesting....

One my guys came across one is Jasper couple weekends ago were a rod ventilated the block

I just came through Golden, and the loads some of those guys were towing with those eco-boosts was crazy....

Not too sure, they closed the thread. I looked around on that forum and saw they were discussing it in another thread. It appears that ford contacted the site administrator saying there was more to the story, and that offers had been made to the guy, so he closed the thread, but when questioned about details the mods are unable to provide them. The original poster responded that the only offer from ford was to give him $35/day for one week to go towards a rental vehicle, even though they have had the truck for weeks at a time, and that to rent a comparable vehicle was going to cost more than that anyway. The truck is at a dealership in bc right now, with the engine out

and they offered to trade it in for $10k under what he wants and Ford (dealership) has admitted its a lemon vehicle which is why the $10k difference. thats what they offered

someone on that thread brought up a good point... it will now have a new long block motor installed it should be worth more than the going rate... but Ford (dealership) admitted its a lemon

i think that Ford contacted the site admin or owner and applied pressure in one way or the other and the forum guys caved

i have heard over the last few years that ford buys back vehicles, i know of a guy that had 3 motors put in a 2010 powerstroke, in the shop 18 times in 3 years. he told me he asked for a buy back but i think it was more of a trade in as hes in a 2013 now haha

I don't know how it can be considered a lemon when it had three different engines installed. If they fixed the same engine three times for the same thing then it would be. In this case it would be the the Eco-Boost itself is a lemon.

Seems Ford is still circling their mistakes.......

Its pretty obvious the failure had nothing to do with the long block end of things. Something in the intake/injectors cracked or warped intake maybe? I have to admit being a Ford fan this is brutal. The poor press that they got on this fiasco is enormous. As with any new platform this stuff is almost bound to happen. All you tough guys who would buy a Dodge or a Chevrolet only now and say screw Ford are missing fact that these mistakes happen everyday in a lot of different dealers and repair shops.

thats why a good dealer is the key, for all makes

the chevy dealership i go to said that they trucks we bought there will be taken care of, even after warranty is up (depending on what it is). we are not at that point yet

Bingo... the key here is having a good relationship... dropping a box of donuts at the service counter goes a long ways.

I was told at the dealer that ford has put out a bulletin, not to make repairs on the Eco boost for the engine miss/ poor fuel mileage. Towing my boat and with my jet ski in the back and supplies for holidays, plus the family, I went from 17-19 per hundred a year ago to between 23-25 per hundred this summer...it's bad...shift patterns aren't the same in tow mode. Antler hill south of red deer, last year it would drop down to fifth, this year third. I'm hoping that ford gets their s...t together and resolves this problem in a hurry. We've got about 15 of these trucks at work, and some of them are starting to act up the same way as well. I guess this is what happens when you buy first gen technology....kinda like my doo rev in '08, I was an unwitting member of the doo R&D team :) lol

Why on earth would this guy even think about going with the same brand after getting treated like that? That would be enough to get me to hit for the other team...er. Wait?

Mine was working great Until 2 weeks ago. In shop three times in three days for busting spark plugs. Was getting moisture from the intercooler. Moisture would hit the hot plug and crack it. Replaced plugs and cooler and all seems good again towed home our work Chevy from Conklin to drayton hauled like a champ. 21 l per 100 k at 90-100 kph
Weighed it at the scale corner of 63 and 28 and was even marginally over max gvw :)

Can say whatever you like about your diesel etc but pretty impressive when a v6 gas is giving you a run for your money.
