Use to get 99% Isopropanol @ any local drug store. Now it appears everywhere one goes to purchase it the stores tell they are in the fight meth program & donot sell to the general pubic now. Can only get the 70% stuff.
Anyone know where one can purchase other than thru the sled dealers ? Anybody adding anything of different sort to the sled fuel, Any info would be appreciative, Thks.

Thks Summitric, I am using a 500 ml bottle every tank of fuel (near always have). Do you think this is somewhat of a (over kill)? Using 99% Isopropanol cause of the alcohol content.

gas line anti-freeze

Hey Bigfoot: If you always fill up at the big 3 gas stations(petro-canada, esso, or shell) and use supreme fuel in your sled, all 3 have formulated a gas line anti-freeze of one type or another into their fuels. It is not necessary to put any gas line anti-freeze into their fuels. On the other hand, the lesser or no name brands(eg. Safeway, Canadian Tire, etc) usually just have base grade gasoline in their tanks with little, or no additives. You can always ask at the location you're filling up and they "should" know if their fuel has additives. I think you're overkilling, personally. I haven't used gasline anti-freeze in years, however I do carry a tube with me on the sled at all times(in case water/snow get into someones tank somehow). just my 2 cents worth(I run a Petro-canada Certigard station and used to run the gas bar for years too):twocents:

Hey Ric
I've always been told not to run gasline antifreeze in the sleds and if you do only use about a quarter of one of those 500 mil bottles.a whole botle is good for about 20 gallons of fuel! You can lean your fuel out too much and fry a piston if you use too much.Does this sound logit to you?You would be the guy to ask! Thanks in advance!

I had trouble with my reeds warping after running Mohawk fuel...the cause I don't know for sure, but I have never had good luck with it before .I tried it in my Jeep once did'nt make it very far." 450Hp chevy 383 with 40's" she did'nt run 1/2 a block .Drained and always run P.C or ESSO,SHELL since .Found this on the MR.R'S site in Milo AB ...If you don’t want a hole in the top of your piston, we need to address the whole issue of quality fuel and type of fuel for your Rotax engine again. We have seen some issues with poor fuel quality (dead fuel, methanol, ethanol based fuels) reek havic on our high compression 800 HO engines. At the start of each year, you need to drain your tank out and pour new fresh fuel in from suppliers such as Esso, Shell and Petro-Can. Stay away from Mohawk as it is not the fuel for your sleigh. Remember, to have a quality relationship with anything including your sleigh, it’s what you put into it. -- Dr. Phil

gas line anti-freeze

Overkill And Catman: Yup, Read The Article By Mr. R's ... Very Good(that's Where I Bought My 1000) Article And Yes, Don't Use A Whole Bottle In A Sled Tank, Could Cause A Slightly Leaner Condtion, And Could Result In Engine Damage. Like I Said, With Todays Gasoline From The Big 3 Manufacturers, You Won't Need Any G.l.a.f.(gas Line Anti-freeze) As They Already Have It In The Gas. Just My 2 Cents Again(gee, With All My 2 Cents Worth Out There, I Think I Owe Somebody, Don't I??);)

non-oxygenated fuel

I agree, stay w/the big suppliers of fuel, fresh fuel & all the other stuff. I just don't know what we are getting for fuel from these suppliers. I do understand that non-oxygenated fuel does has the characteristic for a lean burn. This is not much of a concern for the newer sleds as they for most part have fuel management systems. I started adding isopropanol years ago on older sleds for this reason & just maintained w/the undrstanding that the isopropanol would slow down the burn. I am under the understanding that additives w/methanol have hotter burn characteristics. Some of you may know alot more about this than I do & any insight is interesting.
Thks.
