Just a curious question but these 160 acre 1/4 sections for $800,000 or more.......how many years would you have to farm them to make that money back? Saying its the best paying crop forever,year after year?

No matter what if u dont have enough other land paid for to make up the lost income of that land it will never pay, intrest on 800 is insane cost well over a mil even at 10 years

So many variables. Weather, crop prices, input costs, how friendly your banker is, land base to absorb losses on new land and interest costs. Big leap of faith these days

Couple years ago we have three 19 foot hoppers on concrete. With angle brackets and bolted into the concrete, the brackets weren't welded to the skids, but a blizzard came through, the 3 bins off the pad, over the bolts, over the bent hangers and slid them on the ground another 15 feet. Needless to say, counted our blessings, and i welded the brackets to all the bins now.
Also it's come time to replace the rubber on our 4wd... Scary thought for sure. Currently, 20.8r42's on it. Wanting to put a radial on, have been eying the 620/60r42 since it is okay to use on an 18" rim. Anyone have experience with that? Only brand I found that accepted the 18" rim was Michelin. North american made tires are twice the price as overseas. So i'm wanting to find a off shore instead. $38,000 for the 20.8's domestic. $18,000 for off shore. It's going on a Case 9270 turned up to 400hp, also wanting to put liquid in all 8 tires for weight, pulling 53 foot on 10" spacing and 340 bushel tank. Anyone use beet juice instead of calcium?

Parents of a guy at work just sold 3 of their 4 townships in SK. A township is 23000ac. That's wild.

Anyone totally understand how the new federal budget affects the capital gain tax and allowance? I haven’t seen anything in any farm publications yet fully explaining it and don’t want to bother my accountant at the busy tax season.
Buddy really likes working for the corperations or his parents just dont like him? Which.one.
Reminds me of this guy that worked for my dad, he'd tell us about his big trucking company he owned back in ontario.
He said he was just out in alberta to work for fun. Lol

Ken, They upped the tax to 2/3, replacing the 50%. Also, they upped the amount another $250,000 from what I read.

So every farmer that has over a million in sellable assets will be part of the .013% people affected by the increase in tax? The turd said only extremely large corporations will be affected. I’m not a big farmer in the scheme of things but I guess I’ll be targeted when I sell down the road. That phacker won’t even be in power when I retire and he’ll still have his phacking hand in my back pocket.

It effects a lot of small and medium sized businesses too.
Everyone's looking at consumer costs right now, how many people are looking at small businesses? Many businesses are struggling right now barely paying their bills, and borrowing money, if they can get it, isn't an affordable option.
If I was going to bet on it, I would say the next recession or crash in the Canadian economy will be caused by small business collapse.
But hey, let's throw more taxes on the back of these businesses.
