hardly have anything in at all in this end of the province(south eastern sask). there are a few big farming ops around here that have 25000 acres and only about 640 of them in so far. not good with crop insurance deadline coming up. we've had more water than we have ever had this year and to top it all off in the past 2 weeks we have gotten about 5 inches of rain. so just imagine how much water and how wet the fields are.

25000 acres that is ridiculous. I don't even think lakeside has that much. Only guy i can think of who would is CVR and he probably had 50,000+ before it was broken up

Whenever it rains and we're supposed to be busy in the field, our one neighbor always tells us, "It's ok, it's a drying rain".:d

and in the next breath.....we need some more rain as it's been too hot!

I've listened to the same story for many a decade!

It is nice to be out in the mountains and not hear a grain report, commodity prices, the Ag report, all the TV ads for insecticide/pesticide/herbicide, nor the special grain ads, etc.

But I love to eat (not Chinese chicken tho'), so God bless the farmers!!!

Couple years ago I pick up a sled for a buddy south of Fort Macloed . The fellow I got the sled from worked for a farmer that seeding over 100,000 acres. There was 16 combines lined up in a row - was impressed!

Here in MB, 50% seeded and outta the 50% in the ground, i would say 15% will need to be re seeded. the remaining acres will prob be left for this year. We are SO FREAKIN WET!! i will guess that MB will only have 50% of a crop. Never seen it this wet, the lakes, are so full, rivers so full they are draining onto farm land! not a good year to be a farmer in MB.

That sucks. Hopefully what's seeded grows very well. My ex is from Manitoba, and I was talking to her uncle the other day, and he was saying the same thing. Not fun at all.

Does "rancher talk" count? :d

So far with the in-laws 350 pairs calved out. Only lost 1 calf this spring.

Grassers went out last weekend - fixed fence for two days straight in between kids soccer games. Ponies were wore out with 12+ hrs days riding fence.

All looks good though. Now a little rain - a little heat...................

But what is with the farging mosquitos?

Will finish the last of 4500 acres tonight. We need rain badly!! Went from having to split the air cart about twenty times so we could pull everything out to begging for rain. Lol typical.

2500 acres of Canola, and 3000 of wheat.

Sent from my kickass HTC Desire because Apple sucks!

I dont deal with canola but do buy a fair bit of organic spring wheat for local and European markets. Price has been strong but as of last week it took a tumble because Russia released it's export ban due to last years drought. Will be interesting to watch what happens this year.
