Better racing today with not as much single file racing. Pretty tame most of the race but things ramped up big time at the end and we had some wrecks and some more wrecks and then 1 more for good measure and then we had a great finish in overtime with the 11 car surviving the 61st Daytona 500. Congrats to Denny.

Heres the sweet 16 after race number one for the Chase. Hamlin automatically has transferred after missing the win column last year: 11-22-18-17-20-88-42-48-34-13-2-47-9-4-12-14

1st practice in the books from Hotlanta. The new rules package has speeds down over 6mph from practice times last year. These cars are down from 850hp to 550hp this year. The Xfinity cars may actually be faster than the Cup cars. Heres your 10 fastest cars: 14-10-3-1-11-19-20-18-22-41

Qualifying was interesting with some smaller teams placing higher than top tier teams. Here was the top 10 fastest cars: 10-17-14-11-41-18-42-1-19-3

Final practice is just over and here is how it panned out: 14-18-3-34-32-1-22-8-6-19. Kyle will start at the back of the field after crashing and going to a backup car in practice. Some interesting results seeing the 3-34-32-8 and 6 car in the top 10 fastest cars in practice. Hard to believe these teams have figured out the new rules package sooner than say Harvick or Keselowski, Johnson and the such.

Bad Brad milked a tire going bad to hold on for the win today in Atlanta! After missing practices because of the stomach flu he sucked it up for the win. Here was the top 10 finishers! 2-19-1-4-14-18-20-10-37-41

NBC Sports Vegas Rankings

Denny Hamlin is out and Kyle Busch is in – in first place for this week’s NBC Sports NASCAR Power Rankings, that is – heading into this weekend’s race at Busch’s home track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Busch was unanimously selected by the NBC Sports writers for the top spot, while Daytona 500 winner Hamlin dropped to fifth.

Brad Keselowski, who didn’t receive any votes in last week’s Power Rankings, vaults to the No. 2 spot after winning Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway — and while battling the flu, no less.

Other notable jumps: Kevin Harvick (from ninth to third this week), Kyle Larson (zero votes last week to fourth) and Martin Truex Jr. (zero votes to sixth this week).

Dropping out of this week’s Power Rankings: Jimmie Johnson, Matt DiBenedetto, Ryan Preece, Ross Chastain and William Byron.

Kcryle Busch and Mcryle Truex ranked 1 and 6.

Hope they bring Cry towels after they hit the wall.

Sad to say we are gonna have to start calling Truex that to. Nobody will pull over for him on the race track and it holds him up. Good gawd.

It's a shame, I used to kinda like him back when he drove for MWR.

I have always like Martin. I was happy for him when he won his championship and his wife was going through her health concern. It seems since he won though he now figures everyone should show him respect and not race him? Is he not on a race track? Stenhouse was one lap down but was racing to stay in the transfer position if a caution came out. He has an owner and a sponsor that he has to please. Not just Truex. As it turned out Brad was backing off to save a tire and ran the same lap times as Martin on the last 2 laps so he probably wasn't going to win anyways unless the 2 car blew a tire.
