Travel Advisory In the Purcell Mountains near Golden and Invermere cold temperatures and little snow are maintaining a Moderate avalanche danger. If more than 20cm of snow falls and the wind blows, then the avalanche danger will rapidly rise to Considerable. In the Selkirks and Monashees the avalanche danger may slowly rise to Considerable with additional snowfall at all elevations. Watch for the classic signs of unstable snow, like shooting cracks or whumpfing noises.
Avalanche Activity Avalanches triggered this weekend will likely run in weak sugary faceted snow just over the Dec 5 crust. There is the possibility of these avalanches substantially growing in size if they step down to the Nov 24th facet, surface hoar, crust interface.
Snowpack Extensive wind transport occurred Wednesday night in exposed high elevation terrain. Selkirks and Monahsees: In sheltered areas, new snow covers facets, which reside on the Dec 5 rain crust buried 40-65cm deep. Stability test results are in the moderate to hard range. The Nov 24 weak is 100-120cm deep. Stability test results are typically in the hard range. In the Purcells the top 40 to 50 cm is faceted, cohesionless and weak, which covers the Nov 24 layer. Moderate stability test scores are reported on this layer.
Weather Saturday, should be a fairly nice day, light snow with a mix of sun and cloud. Selkirks and Monashees: On Sunday, 20-25 cm with SW to NW 30-60km/hr ridgeline winds. Monday, 10-15 cm, with winds SW to NW 30-60km/hr. Purcells: On Sunday, 10-15 cm with SW to NW 30-60km/hr ridgeline winds. Monday, 5-10 cm, with winds SW to NW 30-60km/hr

All finished the course and now I can hopefully push it on some of you although I shouldnt have too.The more I learn about this stuff, the more I want to pass along the info and encouragement how important this course is to each and every rider out there. The course helped me out with several things including the fact that I stiil need to work on multiple beacon searches as they are very tough and easily confusing expecially if you know how to do a single search and not a multiple.Anyway Zacs Tracs put on a great course and I highly recomend it, I have added a couple pics of the course,One of Lori taeching her trade,One of the sleds in the group and a pic of everybody digging there pit.
Take the Course,Its a good reason to head for the mountains!
