Excited to be quadding soon. Any ideas on good quadding/camping areas ? Suitable for beginners and yet adults won't be bored?

Mclean Creek west of Calgary was fun. Road right from the camp site. We all had a blast. Toured around to see some sites and did alittle shopping in Bragg Creek. This year we hope to go to Outwest Campground near Rocky.

Love the pics, thanks!
I will have to drag some out of hiding and post also.
I think it was Outwest that we went to last year. Not fun.
We're hoping to find a good place for this year. Maybe meet up with some people who also have kids around the ages of ours, and have loads of fun.

I can't wait.

:p

Why do you say Outwest was not fun?

I've found a large variety of trails around there over the last few years, good for all ages, and all abilities. Yes there are area's of thick sticky muskeg, and some good hills but you can always tip toe around them.

When we phoned before we went last summer, they said there was good swimming within walking distance for the kids, and a store with a good variety, if there might be something we would need while camping. We had to drive down the road (I think it was about 15 minutes) to a store to buy matches. It wasn't stocked with much of anything. Quadding was okay, lots of steep trails we were stuck in. Plenty of mud, but we were just not impressed with having to go so far for bare necessities and nowhere for the kids to swim within walking distance. (I know it's for quadding more than swimming, but the kids were all excited, then felt jipped that it wasn't what we told them it was).

This year we will try and find a different campground. I hear it gets busy there, but it was crazy quiet the entire time we were there, felt kinda like a ghost time. The campground was nice though, even an ATV wash. Water , power and showers was a nice luxury. At least they had a good stick of freezies, lol.

Nearest store is a ways to drive yes, and you could have swam in the river down at the bottom of the hill. This is the location of the Snowandmud.com ATV Jamboree's every year, and as a host we can say nothing bad about them.

Absolutely, it is a nice area, I agree. We just chalked it up to miscommunication, and cranky, unpleaseable kids at the time. They seem to think to swim needs to be in a lake, they just wouldn't do the river thing.... We told them they could move to BC, lol.

We haven't ever heard anything negative about their campground, which is why I say we chalked it up to miscommunication and cranky kids. The rainy weather wasn't in our favor, (which is likely why it was quiet) , but man did it give us awesome mudding, I loved the ATV wash idea.

It was nice to be able to quad right from your campground, instead of having to go somewhere else to start riding.

I think issuses arise no matter where you go. Ours was a young kid pissed to the gills right infront of our site driving a buddies car. Left my helmet on when I confronted him and took the keys away :d We'd go back again.

maclean creek west of calgary is an awesome place to ride. well marked trails, all different levels of riding, and the store is right on the edge of the campground basically. the campground is good too, from basic camping to powered sites. we quad there alot, and really enjoy it!
