Apparently BBB has back pedalled on their previous statement. It will be on the late news tonight. I cannot find anything on the internet but this should be interesting.

Again - very typical idiotic baised media report. This is jus a PR campaign to make their products look "greener" to the consumer, BB&B is like a smaller version of The Body Shop.

The ironic part of this all, and the biggest part that BB&B and the media neglected to mention, is that they market, wrap and sell all their products in plastic containers. Anybody know where plastic comes from?????? You guessed it BB&B you dish!ts, OIL!!!!! What a fuggin' joke this company is. So they move to a "greener" gasoline.... pffft. The best way they could reduce their carbon footprint is to start handing out their liquid soap and shampoo's in brown paper bags made from recycled paper. Think that would be high hit with consumers? LOL

This is just a PR and ad campaign to get free advertising for BB&B, but really will only demonstrate a marginal benefit to the environment. This is just a "feel good" story for their PR dept to tell the media for free advertising and nothing more than sugar coating of the truth. Next month they will be in the news saying they won't buy oil from third world countries because of the labour conditions. Only problem is, they won't realise they are taking jobs away from some poor bugger who keeps his family fed. This poor dude will then resort to piracy on the ocean and far more fuel will be burnt by US and NATO destroyers patrolling the shipping lanes, protecting the latest shipment of BB&B products destined for south Africa and Europe, then BB&B would have ever saved by buying the oil from this third world country in the first place.

But so long as the carbon emissions of the 100,000 tonne warship plowing through the ocean guzzling 10,000 gallons of fuel an hour, gets tacked onto someone else's carbon footprint quota, they can feel good about themselves. Total BS.

"Environmental" has just become a buzz word for all these companies.

Someone should tell these douche nozzles to pull their heads out of their @$$es.

WHOA!! Well said...

Quebec protested our so called dirty oil as well. I think we should shut off all the taps for 1 week. I wonder how that would effect their lifestyles? Burr...turn on the lights. Sheesh.

I was bored so I sent these guys a little message, basically asking if my wife was banned from BBB because she was spending oils sands money.
Thru in a few other digs letting them know that China called to let us know that if we were stuck, they would take the extra from us.

Just having a little fun on a friday.

Lo and behold, got a response right away.

Thank you for making the effort to contact us. Bed Bath & Beyond has not rejected or otherwise banned our third party transportation providers from using fuels from Canadian Oil Sands.

Bed Bath & Beyond is committed to exploring ways to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the movement of our goods. Accordingly, the Company has partnered in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "SmartWay" program and has requested that our third party transportation providers give preference to fuels with lower greenhouse gas footprints, where feasible. Bed Bath & Beyond stores are serviced exclusively by third party transportation providers. That is, we do not operate our own fleet of trucks.

In our communication with our providers, we incorrectly communicated a desire to limit or avoid fuels from Canadian Oil Sands. Our intent was to encourage our third party transportation providers to be aware of the issues associated with fuels generally, and in the context of our attempts to decrease our own greenhouse gas impacts, we have asked them to lessen their use of fuels which they know would be counter to this goal, where feasible.

Consistent with our prior comments, Bed Bath & Beyond is committed to exploring ways - in all markets we operate - to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the movement of our goods. Bed Bath & Beyond does not buy fuel in Canada since all our freight in Canada moves on third party carriers. We will encourage our carriers to educate themselves on this issue, as we will continue to do the same.

In light of this information, I hope that you'll reconsider.

Sincerely,

Hank Reinhart

The only thing GREEN involved with any of these types of issues is the colour of money, Thats what there all about... BB@B dosent give a ch!t about anything other than the bottom line and customer perseption of their products. The problem is, that joe consumer is so stupid that they belive the spin.

wow,
Just a quick note from an American who would and will totally support any such boycott.
If these asjacks want to think that ANY MIDDLEEAST oil is a better alternative than what can be provided by predominately non muslim non terrorist supporting ( back me up here guys) american continent source should be refused then they ain't a gonna git ma dollars
really how much greener can you get than oil that ain't gotta be transported over the ocean at a rather extensive cost of fuel burn vs someting that can come via shorter distance etc.
