Theres a court fee to fight a ticket now too. So lose a days pay, pay a fee. Just not worth it and thats what the courts want.
In addition, fighting the ticket doesn't require going to court anymore. Instead, you need to pay a fee ($50 to $150) to go in front of an online adjudicator. While it would eliminate almost 500,000 in-person court visits a year, it's not sitting right with the Alberta community.Jul 19, 2022

I wouldn’t trust the town of Edson, they are hard up for cash so they will mail anyone because no one will fight it.
Also, Edson just changed all school zones to playground, so no going over 30 I think until 21:00.

yup , I agree that was the reason , but I don’t agree with it. The “arbitrary “safe overage is the problem I believe. They should be able to source good equipment , if not change suppliers, and if your defence is your Speedo is out , that’s your problem if I was the judge.
when you have a 10 km safe zone sometimes , maybe , if he/she decides , if they’re in a good mood or if you have big boobs , or if it’s a relative , etc etc, it’s hardly a law. Plus, it’s kinda like baiting for dollars, turn a blind eye to everything for a month or 2 , then oh look , a blitz , where the cash rolls in.
Raise it , use reliable radar guns if you gonna do police stuff, and tell the pussy judges to back up their enforcement service.
This crap lately of all the reasons the Laws should be modified and relaxed cause of overcrowded courts, overworked police and legal officials, crowded jails, and then a bunch of bleeding heart BS, is one of the biggest reasons we are having more and more issues .
Fine them , hang them , castrate them , regain some friggen respect for authority .
The scam is they make it so difficult to fight the tickets most just give up and pay them, even if in the right. Even during covid they had in person tickets for a lot of it hoping people wouldn't show up. I got a $100 BS parking ticket, the dumba$$ wrote the wrong date and time (don't know how to read 24 hour clock, I wasn't parked there yet when the ticket said it was written), they revised the date after and when I called about it they said they fixed the error and too bad. It's not worth fighting in person, even though you'd win in a heartbeat. Another one a few years ago I got 3 parking tickets on my trailer in 2 days guy post dated the last one to the next day, and the city wouldn't even get rid of any.
For other tickets you can go online and they offer a reduction, for a speeding ticket it was 1 demerit off and knocked like $100 off I think. The court date is 3 years away, i'd say 99% chance at least of getting rid of it totally, i've got out of a fair bit of tickets because of minor errors, like a 40 over speeding for an appearance date falling on a weekend, that one I wanted to go to court to fight, the road had a 60 limit going one way, 80 another which is not allowed. I couldn't careless about the cost, it's the demerits, the last ticket I had on my record just a minor violation cost a few hundred extra in insurance for 5 years.

I have had lots of parking tickets and have never paid one in my life. They dont bug you when you register something, and my credit is as good as it gets.. same thing with out of province tickets...
