It's happening lots in SE BC. North of Sparwood there was 2 camps set up for over a year. A Elkford guy posted that he was going to move them for good if the owners didn't move them first. The owners contacted him and the units will be moved. We have so many idiots leaving tons of garbage everywhere in the bush. They are shutting down lots of the Koocanusa due to the bullsh** that is going on. It doesn't surprise me at all
I agree that it’s a piss off.... but probably inevitable. I sure hope they actually have people to enforce on the ones that can’t seem to follow the rules and have good etiquette. The garbage is a disgrace... I just can not understand how people think that leaving a huge pile of crap is ok...?!! As for the overstaying... why do some people think it’s their right to hoard any particular location all season???? That’s the reason for the 14 day rule in the first place.... it’s these issues that the rules were made for in the first place.... some people just lack common decency and respect. In the old days.... they’d get a free ride to the train station....

I quit Camping five years ago. Tired of fish cops harassing us. Some days we get stopped four times. Last time I was out the cops were banging on trailers looking for documents on one machine sitting on a trailer at Medicine lake. They woke up a pregnant woman the only one back at camp and demanded she give paperwork to the machine on the trailer that wasn’t even hers. I hang out at my lake lot and ride local ditches and trails around Stanger Hills. I will do day trips to the foothills but no more camping. My new side-by-side can go from Gainford to Edson in the ditch in just over an hour. And the Rcmp don’t even look at me twice LOL

I basically have the same exit strategy, random camping has been getting destroyed 1000x faster since the NDP started opening their big mouths about it on MSM. It’s going too take the biggest swarm of bugs ever to stop the townys from coming out to the bush.or the government takes their toys away, in the meantime I’ll be living/riding out there in both provinces

So visiting my Dad today who is 84 at senior’s home.
He is 84
Talking about random camping as he calls it. He started when he was 12 with his family. Mostly gravel roads and no one around.

He was surprised at how it has gone. In the wrong direction

Quads and UTV,s are a relatively new thing and RVs have gained popularity also. Population has gone up too.

Just way more people trying to use the same area

Ya, no kidding! I was at Horseshoe lake a month ago. The ice wasn't even off the lake yet and trailers were already set up for the summer. Pretty obvious when they have 100lb propane tanks hooked up to them. This is supposed to be a controlled Forest Service rec site, but all enforcement of the 14 day rule has gone out the window. CO's don't have time. Enforcement officers refuse to do it because they're afraid to confront people.

Starting June 1, it is proposed each camper, 18 years and older, would be required to pay $23.25 plus GST for a 3-day camping pass and $33.25 plus GST for an annual pass.

So I read that would be $66.50 per couple for an annual fee. That seems pretty steep in my mind. That will keep many city folks in the city. They can go watch a movie with the kids for less.
We hit the Eastern slopes for one long trip a year, usually a week. The annual pass is cheaper than two 3 day passes (4 total). Most of our other spots are off the radar.

I will bet money the trails and enviroment won't see any of this money. It's a cash crab... and i am fu.king tired of the division among us. Why does this only apply to certain people.. All this does is cause more racism. Wake up!!

Should make it like 5000$ to 10000$ a year, like a membership at a country club. That would really thin out the numbers of "citiots" trying to.come out west camping...

So now we gatta pay $30 for random camping. What a joke. I still don’t get the attitude that your already into camping for 2-500 for the weekend what’s another $30. **** it all adds up.

it crown land... the people’s land.... Like hell there going out to clean up the random sites. There is no way to monitor or enforce this random camping fee.

the fall of society is to bring laws out that they can’t enforce, see it more and more in the last year!

Well if it was 10,000$ per person per year, we could have an officer stationed at every camp to hand out fines for non compliance of the rules, make sure everyone is socially distant, wearing masks ext.

People pay 10, 20,000$ to go skiing the back country for a few days. If you cant afford that to go camping out west, ur probably a bum and should stay home haha

The cringe I have isn’t the $20-$30 pass, it’s the dickhead conservation officers that will be roaming around as meter maids looking for anything non complaint.

Give this man a cigar - nailed it buddy. Now there will be more COs with a valid excuse to roll up on my campsite and check for papers, and while they’re there try for any and all BS tickets. And believe me, our crew leaves every site in better shape than we find it in.
