So sounds like I should keep my full suspension for a while if I do get one. Was planning on offsetting the cost of the ebikes by selling my other ones. I was curious if there were times when a guy would want to ride the anolog one
Once you ride and Ebike there's no going back to analog.

Any complaints with the giant or all good? Local dealers have giant, trek, specialized, rocky mountain, and cannondale

I like the giant a lot
Had to get a new battery on warranty when the charger over charged it. New charger too

I have had a giant reign regular bike for years

Purchased a 2020 norco sight vlt 29er and ride with a buddy with specialized levo and must say they a awesome u will never go back to a regular bike. And yes u still will get a good work out but u will just cover way more ground. by the way the levo has a bit more power.

If you were buying another one would you get another Norco, or go for the specialized?

I would go for the specialized just for the extra power when climbing but i see the new norco sight has the new EP8 motor which has more power but the specialized is a bit quieter too.

Specialized Levo is a great platform but the motor is their own proprietary system. Where as others run a Bosch or Shimano system.

Have you been around many other brands? What would you buy if you were getting a new bike today?

If I were to buy a new e-bike today and money was no problem I would look hard a the specialized Levo or the Santa Cruz Heckler. Most of the bikes are comparable for the money you spend. The price tag usually comes down to the quality of the non ebike components used on the bike like suspension, brakes, etc. The one thing I did notice between bikes is the Rocky’s and the Treks make the most noise but none of them would be considered loud.

I picked up a Giant Trace last fall for about $6k one thing that I miss over my conventional Rocky Mountain Instinct is the 29” wheels (the giant only has 27.5” wheels) so make sure you stick with your preference before pulling the trigger on something.

I go back and forth between my conventional and e bike. I use the e bike for big days or the second or third day in a row of riding. Also if I only have an hour or so to ride I grab the e bike as most of the loops near home are about 2h on a conventional bike.

I’m intrigued by the Norco big foot it would allow you to regulate your effort in colder temps and not be dripping with sweat at -10 only to freeze when you start descending. But I also wonder about battery performance in the sub teen temps too.

Here’s a pic of my fleet. The trainer is for the really cold days!!

I have had time on a few different brands. The Trek Rail was the best dollar value and best performance and it's 29" wheels
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big name manufacturers.

Specialized Levo is the lightest but has a smaller battery and over $10k.
Santa Cruz Heckler and Bullit are beautiful bikes but over $10k.
Giant trance are huge bikes, longest and heavy but they a bomber for DH.
Rocky Mountain is very nice but again proprietary motor.
Commencal are Bullit proof and reasonable priced, except they are online sales only, same for YT. Not a bad thing but service/warranty could be an issue.
I always recommend finding a dealer that has good mechanics and is close to where you live. Same as sleds.
If you haven't ordered a bike (Ebike or analog) already you may not get one until August. Huge delays in manufacturing and huge demand thanks to Covid.

Not an E-bike owner, Wife's cousin's have them in Amsterdam. They ride for two/three weeks at a time going from country to country....
I did try one when we were there in 2015 [pretty cool], you can definitely cover a lot more ground. I don't think he was very impressed when I started doing wheelies on it.
In the background of this pic is a bicycle parking lot for people using the buses, trains, boats etc. It's four levels and covers the whole pic, one of the locals said there could be over ten thousand bikes parked at one time.

My Norco big foot with Bafang has a 52 w Panasonic battery. Cold Doesn't seem to affect it. I've done 40km rides with juice to spare. It is in a frame bag, not sure if that keeps it warmer or not.

The Dutch love their bikes, wife's family is there and I have seen the bike parkade at the train station. Blew me away.

So you prefer the 29" wheels? I had them on my hardtail and then when I upgraded to my Norco sight it had 27.5". I think I prefer them

29ers typically climb better and are smoother over rocks and roots. A 27 is more nimble and faster on downhills. I do more climbing than hardcore downhill so I prefer the 29er. I’m thinking I’ll make my ebike into a mullet: business in the front (29er) and party in the rear (27.5)!

Probably not the best time to buy one of these. Friggin ridiculous buying anything these days. Phoned a couple places and asked if they would give a bit of a break on two of them (it's a lot of money!) They were actually kind of rude about it. Something along the lines of why on earth would we discount anything when we know it will sell. Tough time to be a cheapskate
