Which powersaw to buy

Because the guy at mainjet I spoke to a couple of weeks ago told me they stopped selling them a while ago because they were having major problems with them. Spoke to another guy the other day that said that wasn't true at all. So don't know what to believe. Would probably be a more practical all around saw. Can get a 661 for the same price though. But there would probably be over a 3lbs difference between the two. 462 wouldnt be a great fit for an Alaskan mill I don't think. Doesn't have the torque of the other two. But starting to lean away from the Alaskan mill. Money would probably better spent towards a band saw mill.

My real problem is that I am bored and have way too much time on my hands as a stay at home mom

If I was going to buy a Stihl chainsaw I'd be looking for an MS500i. The first EFI chainsaw. Might be hard to find though, not sure if dealers have stock on them yet. 79cc, 6.8hp, at 13.6lb.

Otherwise if I needed a bigger saw I'd be getting a Husqvarna 572XP.

Wow....that looks like the ticket right there. Might just wait for that one because I'm not in a hurry. Wonder what the price tag is gonna look like?

I read about them a year ago when I bought my 550XP. Sounds like mostly just heavy industrial users have them for testing right now. Stihl is very slow releasing this one to market, who knows when dealers will get them.

I can't find much on pricing either, one article reads something like $1700USD, not sure how reliable that is though. Which for that price you could buy a 661 for the big stuff and a 261 for the small stuff.

For sure. I can get a 661 for 1400 with a 28" lightweight bar. Could keep my rancher with the smaller bar for lighter duty stuff and still be just as far ahead

Did you see the price for one of these puppies? Most expensive chainsaw on the market $2600 plus, maybe they finance them for 3 years, lol.

Those things look badass! Definitely the unit to have if a guy were serious about an Alaskan mill. They definitely aren't cheap though!

Anybody got a Stihl 170 for sale let me know, there on sale right now for 259 but if I can find one cheaper I would jump on it. Don’t need anything bigger, my 16 “ Mccullock lasted me a long time, stihl should be the last one I buy!

That old saw is a beast! Cant remember what that saw was worth back than,but my 046 magnum arctic was 1100 back in the late 90’s if I remember right.

Get the 180. It’s the same saw. But has a narrower chain. It’s cuts better. The 170 is a bit under powered with the big chain. I got the 180 and is a great little saw. I’ve cut some big trees with it and it cuts them.
