Seeing as that thread I posted got a bit of attention, thought one could start a thread about heavy equipment. Pictures, posts whatever.

I’m a foreman and finishing grader operator, but I spent 4 years jumping back and forth between track loaders graders and dozers.

This is my 2001 CAT 973c I bought 5 years ago. High hour unit but was taken care of quite well. Only had four issues that weren’t my fault in my time of owning, a carrier roller bearing, the main hydraulic feed line to the valve body, a drive motor seal failed and was pressurizing the final drive, and then pump pressures needed to be set.

Here’s some pictures of it and some jobs I’ve done.

Bought this 2002 Deere 160 excavator when we started to build our house. Seemed to be well taken care of, been good to me over 2 years of use and very handy. Probably end up selling it come next year after our landscaping is complete and no longer have a need for it.

As a retired heavy duty R.Angus/ Finning partsman this thread will be a good one. The old equipment built the oilsands. D8k's D9G's, 773's 777's. D6c's then D6D's in the bush. Lots of great memories for sure.

Been wrenching and hanging around heavy equipment since I was 18, got my ticket at 23 and in the last few years got into management (I’m 31 now). I took a service manager position with a rental company last summer and I’m loving every bit of it. I’m still on the tools which makes it a good balance of office work and wrenching.

That tracked Genie is sweet! Is that an aftermarket track set up?
Those are factory tracks. Works amazing. Especially now that Alberta has become zoned a rain forest. We’ve had over 12” of rain already in Ponoka area.

Didn't even realize that was an option, I need to rent Genie to finish up some exterior work on my house and Ill definitely be looking for a unit with tracks.
