There is some liability to that though for whoever sells it, considering without going through the legal process it's not their vehicle. Safe as long as owner doesn't try to get it back later, could be expensive if they do.
If it was me I wouldn't risk it, if I wanted it gone i'd push it out onto city street and call bylaw, it will get towed away and sold at police lot as unclaimed if they can't track down the owner. You could probably buy it legally for a few hundred bucks from there.

You can put a storage lien on it if it has been there for more than 9 months and you can not contact the owner ( Including registered mail) you can call it abandoned and claim the vehicle for storage owed ( this is in Sask)

Looks nice but as others said not worth the hassle.
I had someone leave a car on my driveway when they bought a vehicle from me.
After a few months of them not picking it up or not returning my calls I called bylaws and they got rid of it for me.
I would hate to put work into that car only to have someone claim it was their's.
Had a sled stolen from me about 5 year later cops called to tell me they found it.
Apparently someone left it when they skipped out on rent.
The owner of the house fixed it up and went to register it only to find out at some point it was stolen.
Not only was he going to be out of the money he put into it, he was going to be charged with possession of stolen property if he could not come up with a bill of sale.
Not sure what happened as I told the cops that it now belonged to the insurance company, and never heard about it again.

You are over analyzing it, it’s simple, done this many times myself things change hands many times without registry knowing about it.if your by the book every letter to the law then ya don’t bother.

Old guy in town here has one like/similar to that one in better shape same colour [see him at the local cars shows every once in a while]....he's missing a hub cap. I'm sure he'd take that one lol.

i agree with cyle, if not done legally owner could claim it's stolen and a person is out alot of money and time if restoration is being done. not going by the book is risky and could be your loss in the end.
home owner imo would be best to report as abandoned car and i think its 72 hrs before they will remove the vehicle,they will try and contact owner before towing, and at that time you could find out who owns it and if could purchase it for cheap

Not really, there is legal channels for things like that and if you don't follow them it could come back to haunt you. Unless you knew the owner left the country or is dead, there is the risk of them coming back around at some point looking for it.
Only problem is in order for them to take it it must be on public property, so you'd have to move it. I dealt with it once and no towing company or bylaw will deal with it on private property it's a civil matter.
You’re right...the renter might come back for his abandoned junker to a landlord he probably owes money too, with a team of lawyers hell bent on finishing it now, but not even sure it exists anymore.....if your that much of a little bitch you could get another vin from a junkyard.

actually now that you mention it yes you are right, dealt with it before, you can call police and they will try once to contact person but cannot make them come and get it. and tow companies wont tow unless you pay towing and if they know you don't own it they will not tow
You'll be the little bitch when you end up in jail for replacing vins like that. Good luck with doing shady chit like that.
Yea I dealt with it once, guy was in jail so I just moved the vehicle out onto the road then bylaw will tow it.
