Like stated above check compression, check impeller and wear-ring, make sure no chunks out of pump veins

Check the reverse lever too - the cables can be buggered - I changed a set of the cables last yr - it's not fun - other weakest link on them is the starter and the starter solenoid - and the electrical fun box doesn't always stay water tight

They leak water thru the rear shaft seal when worn also.
This also not a fun job to do,

Not so noticeable when you put in and water, ride and take out same day.
But if parked on beach, riden, and left overnight in water, you will see the the water in unit.

Good point!
The 95 through shaft seal is likely the bearing and positive seal type so if they didn't grease it it could wreck the shaft also, gets expensive and hard to find parts

Thanks for the replies guys, after some thought last night I am thinking I’m going to go the mini jet route next year. Seems more suitable for how I’d like to ride
