Just wondering if any members (or family members) are laid off due to the virus. MY wife got laid off last friday and we applied for EI today. Took 1.5 hours to do it. I was more than glad that she was laid off as she worked at a daycare. Hard times for many people. 1/2 million people applied for EI last week. Going to be as much this week I'm thinking.

My daughter lost both of her jobs in Hinton - Day care & Restaurant

We have laid off a bunch of folks over the past 2 weeks, much more of a slow down and I might find myself applying for EI for the first time in over 20 years.

So far I'm still hanging in. A good portion of our plant is working from home. Most of our contractors got laid off.

Scary times

We work around the world. Alot of our project sites went into Care and Maintenance. Having to layoff a number of people as they can't travel. No idea how long this will go for, but a few of our clients have told people that initial projections are to go back to work in July.

A friend I use to work with got let go last week and his wife was layed off this week. I don't regret leaving that company as I would have been let go too. Not sure how stable it will be where I am but for now still have a job.

24 of the crew got ROEs last week.
54 of us still working, this will be our stable number

Had a great crew and was a chit job to choose who last week.
They understood and I talked to each individually just sucked doing it.
Client laid down numbers and rational.
Could have been much worse.

I was supposed to be laid off on Friday 18th, but our commercial division needed a residential supervisor for a new build.
Thankfully they know of my exprience with wood 5 story apartment buildings and Monday I was still employed.
We have ALL been told, that once the City of Calgary, stops doing inspections and permits for new starts and possessions.
We will ALL be told to take an early vakay at home, which we all speculate for 30 days.

On a side note, I don't want this to happen. But I do wish our gov't would grow a set and shut down ALL of Canada, minus the critical essentials for 30 days and be done

We are busier than I expected.
In the Equipment Rentals game.
As job site get shut down, everybody how’s home and starts home projects.
We are busy with lawn and garden crap.
My staff is pissed. We are supposed to be essential service providers but so far we are just moving lawn and garden gear.
This country needs to choose, are we free to roam around or are we quarantined?
This one is going to be hard to recover from whenever we get back to real life.

We were told by the building inspector on our job if everyone took the day off they could do the inspection. Without that inspection we will be done to working on my sister's house for free.

That's a good point, inspectors here won't enter a building or house, if there is someone else in there
