except in quebec, where huge cement plants are approved without any environmental impact studies, and their carbon footprint is larger than any oil sands plants. Sad state of affairs in canada. Also the huge lithium mine in northern quebec is building rail system expansions throughout without any studies!!!

Trudeau and gerald butts stated long ago that they thought the oil sands should be shut down. Its been the federal government policy for 5 years now to destroy the oil industry in Canada and force Alberta back into its historical place of providing for and serving eastern Canada. We will be allowed to subsist just enough to pay our own bills and subsidize Quebec and the maritimes so Ontario doesn't have to. Thats the way its been since 1905, and its gonna continue to be that way until we get a premier and a provincial government in power that stops pandering to Ottawa, quits trying to be a " good Canadian" and has the balls to stand up for Alberta, and keeps our money and resources out of the rest of Canada.

I don't understand why Kenney doens't play the same petty bullsh!t game that the Quebec premier does and make it impossible for projects to be built. If they can have a say on what happens in Alberta, then why can't we have a say in what happens in french land?
we should hire those protestor's to go mess with quebec for a bit.

We don't have a say with what happens in Alberta now, how could we ever hope to influence decisions made in Quebec?
I think we should shut off the natural gas to the eastern part of Canada. Let them live their carbon free lifestyle. Let them freeze in their own homes.

Teck pulled the pin so that the government takes the hit for it not getting built and not them. Political posturing and in my opinion a smart move on their part.
Even if approval was granted this project would not have gone forward (at least not to the extent that everyone is hoping for) until the price of oil gets back up north of $80 Bbl. I've heard a few different financial (not political) folks speak to this over the past year. Teck is short of the capital required to make this project a reality and have not been able to secure 3rd party investment.
Better to pull the pin before the approval and blame it on the bureaucracy and red tape than to be granted approval and not go ahead with the project. Even if they were granted approval and didn't move forward it would still be the government process that killed it (it is the reason nobody will invest in Canada right now) it would be less black and white and Teck would surly find themselves under greater public scrutiny..... This is the best of a bad situation for them.

The Teck stock that we have available to buy into at the mine are TECK.B on the TSX. They only dropped .39 from Friday’s close to $14.06 today, if it hits single digits though I’ll be investing in more.
