It’s an thing everywhere unfortunately.....any used store taxes a “already been taxed” item.

It's true you feel like a boss when you snowcheck and and then wait with anticipation all summer and feel like a king when you pick it up and show up to stage with a brand new machine... then you put the 1st scratch or crack in it lol.
Yes but self reportable and most wouldn't as there isn't much of a paper trail.
Could right off depreciation if it was a business asset.

Shouldn’t it be just PST I’ve bought and sold piles of vehicles and sleds in alberta and obviously we never pay it unless brand new

You would think hey? I think it used to be at one point, but after the HST fiasco they basically called the 12% something of its own and kept charging it. Bnorth would probably know more detail Im guessing. Its friggin criminal

In Alberta if you're buying and selling privately you don't pay any tax but if you're buying used from a dealership you pay gst. They pay gst to whoever they get the vehicle from ie: if you trade in a sled you only pay tax on the difference between the new sled and your trade in value. So it should work out to net zero tax when it's sold (there's some markup that gets taxed in that situation but you gt the idea)
In BC I'm pretty sure you get taxed every single time even buying private- they tax you when you go to register it. So every time a vehicle changes hands the gov't takes their cut. It's quite the racket...

which is why I would like to do it a couple times. but I am still buying the 300 to 500 mile sleds. lol
Hours and condition are better to look at then KM's. Takes 2 seconds to unplug a speedo to keep the miles low.
Or replaced gauges on the skidoo. My 14freeride said 0km on the od when I sold it, but it was just beat! lol
