Tv in detached Garage

What’s everyone do for tv in detached garage?
I’m gunna try and get this rigged up this weekend.
My wifi in garage is marginal. I’ve tried a booster but didn’t seam to make much difference.

What do people do for hockey /sports,
Is there good streaming for this?
I’m thinking of running a internet cable and maybe plugging it into a Apple TV box? Or maybe buy a router that will broadcast wifi inside shop better?
I have Apple TV in house but they are all hard wired.
I stream from my phone to the Apple box for movies tv shows etc but I don’t have access to sports.
Any suggestions?

What do u use to get it to the tv? I tried that one with my Apple TV and it would only stream the sound for some reason.

Scratch that... Apple TV streams it now?? Not sure how I fixed it but it works but it’s pixely

You can pay the 19.99 to get higher resolution. I’ve never had an issue streaming to my smart tv.

I use a Nyrius HDMI Wireless transmitter. We have an ICF home and I have a 32" tv that I carry everywhere through the yard, deck etc without issue. I even use that to stream kids movies for drive in night with the projector on the beach.

i have telus optik wireless tv and it works great in my detached garage
you may need a wifi booster depending how far away your garage is from your router

So I mounted tv yesterday, linked my extender ,

bought a 4th gen Apple TV off kijiji
I have Netflix, amazon prime and videocluster will stream from my iPad no Problem but for the life of me I can’t get caststream to link. It did in the house but by fluke, it dosnt show the little air play box?

Not sure what’s happening, I don’t get the little box for Apple play to select which Apple TV to play to. I can get game on phone no problem, it worked once in house Apple TV, this new one must have a setting turned off.

Can u get any other sports on caststream?

I think so. I only watch hockey though. Just google caststreams baseball, football or whatever your choice is.

U stream from ur laptop? I’m wondering if I can plug that in the back of my Bell satellite receiver HDMI out and transmit it to the garage tv HDMI in, it would be line of sight thru windows but probably 75ft

Hey if you're looking for a long term solution for your garage you're better off to dig the trench and hardline the connection, make sure you get the proper CAT5 cable rated to be buried, and then put an AP in your garage (you can use an old router for this very easily)

If you prefer to use / try a wifi solution, make sure you place your router up high in the room (in your house), also make sure you are on your 2.4ghz band and not 5ghz band, as the former penetrates walls better. Make sure you're using channel either 1,6,or 11 DON'T use other channels (2-5,7-10) it will just cause interference with your neighbours. Take a look at what your neighbours are using (IE if most of them are on 1 and 6, then use 11) Hopefully you don't have anyone using 2-5, 7-10 it just causes everyone broadcast noise and unnecessary interference.

If that still doesn't provide a strong signal to your smart tv in the garage, you might need to focus the signal and beam it from your house to the garage using something like ubiquity antenna and then pick it up with your devices and/or an AP and then rebroadcast within the garage.

Nope, from HDMI On my Expressvue reciever. It's a dongle that plugs into the HDMI port, plus a USB/120V power cable for power. Receiver on the other end plugs into the reciever (tv) with a HDMI port and a 120V power plug. I put mine in a basement window. Shop is about 150ft away, steel cladded, and I don't have an issue with signal. Only downfall is when you want to change channels, you need to be near the receiver.

Using some of the other suggestions here - you could also get a relatively inexpensive wireless repeater for your Wifi too.

I have a wifi repeater and my new Apple tv box is picking it up fine ..so far! Netflix, Prime tv all work great.
Maybe this summer I’ll dig in a internet line and set up a router in the shop.
But right now I’m paying lots for Bell so I think I should try and use it vs streaming. I ordered this last night so I’ll give it a try by putting a splitter in so one HDMI from my Bell out will go to my existing tv and the other to the new transmitter.

Ahhh you beat me to it... Another good option is setting up a nanostation from your current router in the house facing your garage.. This access point with broadcast a good strong signal to your shop and is quite easy to set up and not overly expencive..
