I'm with you Skeg - At the end of the day if despite my planning I need to have someone come haul my sorry ass off a mountain or out of some hole I have no problem paying towards that in the form of a levy. I see BC has a funding model which may or may not be adequate depending on who you listen to.

can't see it being much of a stretch, need plate and operating insurance in alberta, tacking on rescue insurance for the more extreme usages would not be out of contention. costs are enormous for rescue in the alpine areas. i see nothing but upside, nothing wrong with with volunteers, i'm sure they get a bit tired of the circus act.

Being helied out is no biggie.
Been there, done that.
The sleds were not coming out any other way.
Seven of us dropped into a ravine, and we were laughing about being flown out. Someone has to give the pilots employment.
