Definitely put in a MTNTK fix kit. Sled will be great after that. Make sure you inspect the monoblock very carefully for cracks. Not so bad that year but the dragons and some 11/12 had fine cracks.

I’m getting Shawn from mcbride small engine to do the work.

At the mileage it’s at he wants to check the crank, bearings etc and he said he uses spi pistons.

Quoted me 1600 for the basic rebuild providing nothing else is garbage on it (checking crank trueness and pistons)

From what I hear he’s a good engine builder, seems to dislike fix kits though? Lol

You are paying the bill but I wouldn’t gamble on no fix kit. If it was a 15 probably safe but not a 13. MTNTK kit is proven.

Well boys I did a compression test as advised from the local polaris dealer. 90/93 ;(
Looks like I’m looking at a rebuild
Compression check done 5 pulls wide open throttle? If not done this way you will get lower readings. Usually sleds don’t run this low on compression let alone transition into reverse.

Got her back together. Sled pulls good

Mechanic advises I get a new throttle block as my flapper is loose in basically all directions, he said at one point it’s going to mess with my tss and my sled will go into limp mode/not start

What’s recommended for blocks/flapper assembly? Aftermarket or oem?
I contemplated the finger throttle but I’m fearful of the throttle sticking with no tss

No tether?

Yea, I always ride with a tether. I loop it to itself and keep it on my right/left wrist

Ive read some guys say even with just a tether if she sticks wide open while riding it’s hard to pull the tether

I have seen a polaris stick wide open, how it never was totalled was just plain luck. Glad to hear your sled is back running i bet that was not a cheap fix.
