I light of recent events, I am looking at cancelling my cable and do more streaming. I stopped watching CBC around the Omar Khadr interview and now it looks like Rogers/Sportsnet is the next on the list...but I still want to watch my Oilers.

What do you use to steam shows, live TV and sports events? I have a basic understanding of Kodi but am out of the recent loop with the up to date addons.

Did this awhile ago. I don’t have a smart tv so bought an amazon fire stick. You can stream stuff on there and has Netflix, amazon prime tv, Crave and YouTube. I stream my tv from a site called soap 2 day. It’s free and has everything I looked for.

Would also like some info on Android boxes. We were off cable for years and then got a ridiculous offer to bundle with internet but have lost interest again. The only live TV we watch is the occasional evening and saturday morning news everything else we PVR or use on demand. Would like to ditch cable again but have good reliable access to a handful of shows.

We were going to a while ago, I'm on a good Facebook site in the local area that does them and supports the android boxes

There constantly having to update, mess around ect to keep it free

You can get movies before there out, all t. V shows like gold rush ect

But there's lots of time pissing around every week I see keeping it working as the gready networks close the loop holes all the time

That sucks. Saving $30/month isn't worth having to piss around every time I turn on the TV.

Ya, exactly

I just asked if Terri's is still working, he said not sure, hasn't used it for a while

They update automatically, but it's the servers being shut down, so....

Gave up kodi a while back - lots of free stuff but last couple of years you have to keep updating too often as repositories get kicked. Roku and apple tv now - no one else in the house would learn how to update kodi - Crave, Netflix, prime, plus a few other free apps ....even YouTube is getting to be a pain with all the ads.

Look into IPTV I got buzz TV. There is a small monthly fee, 20 bucks but it’s all the channels sports news local channels. Just got to have decent internet. There is usually a add up on Kijiji

How do people find these sites...?

TV has sure changed over the years....
Use to get it free (mind you the reception was never the best), then with the invention of satellites that portion of the industry took off, now there's an almost complete push back to being on any type of plan/program (mind you we still all pay for internet access and varying levels/degrees of access and speed).

With the amount of advertising that's out there... it should all be free to access

My android box has been good. I haven't changed repositories for 5 months. Running a old one that came back to life and hasn't been shut down. Still have satellite never did cancel it. Have the android box in the basement and mainly watch shows we don't get in Canada, the odd movie and porn. I enjoy the techie side of it tho. If I have free time I'll change it up. Find new stuff on it.

I just found out about this IPTV a couple days ago. Friends living overseas say that's all anyone is doing anymore. I'm curious to know more. Would rather put my money toward better internet than crappy cable.

I have done some reading on the high definition TV antennas that grab signals over the air. All you need to buy is the antennae and if your within a certain radius can pick up a fair number of channels in HD. https://nocable.org/availability-report/zip/t5j-edmonton-ab

Anyone looking to purchase a streaming box should look into the Ghostware box.
Free 24/7 support. free auto updates. Totally custom firmware on the boxes. There are reps in Edmonton. 6 or 8 in Alberta, about 80 reps world wide. Or for more info contact me

Hmm, always thought about ditching the cable for something cheaper. Might have a closer look at some of these options.
