At the time of the announcement it says they’re not sure how the homeowners will pay the government portion back yet. Why would they be so stupid and announce this if they don’t have a full plan.

I’m not really sure how this current government can keep making the debt worse. Now this is going to take years to pay the interest even before the principal is paid. And we keep giving millions out for all types of foreign aid.

Yup, that’s the part that blows me away the most. Follows the lines of the budget balancing itself I guess.

All this does is encourage and enable people to continue to buy homes they can’t afford.

They had to cook up something to distract people from the SNC scandal and buy votes for the fall. Desperate times for the Liberals call for desperate and even more asinine than usual measures.

This is fully retarded. Notice how it's 10% for a new build and only 5% for an existing home so all it will do is spur shotty new construction. Their spec taxes and mortgage stress test have hurt real estate so they're hoping to prop it up with this scheme which not only favours those entering the market but also punishes existing homeowners because buyers get half the subsidy on existing inventory making it that much harder to sell a house.

Who wants to be partners on a home with the government anyways? This will come with all kinds of strings attached.

Just one step closer to communism far as I'm concerned.

Agreed, I’m just going to take a wild guess, but I imagine they’d want to bank in on any appreciation, and have price protection in case of depreciation.

I agree 100% with the sediment towards the government but I was surprised to learn how many companies lend the government money, when I asked how this could be it was explained to me that it's a 100% chance you will get your money back cause no one richer then the government.Dirty beotches everywhere.

That's what government bonds are. Municipal bonds have a good return I guess, but it's hard to buy them in Canada. Not that I would though.

You could buy foreign government bonds too.
I dont think governments are a great bet right now.
Most of them are practically insolvent.

What gets me is this budget is being sold as a budget for the "Middle Class". That's a scam as there is nothing in there for us. It is however a budget that will keep the middle class from achieving anything better.

Its nothing but a big shiny coin for everyone to gaze at while the rats keep covering over their tracks from the SNC/ Lavelin fiasco.
