Good day, just wondering if anyone has any insight as to why the AWD on my 2005 sportsman 800 just stopped working one day. I used the machine to plow snow and it worked just fine, no issues, then parked it in the garage (not heated but out of the weather), came back two weeks later to plow snow and the AWD wasn’t working. Anybody ran into this before? I don’t see a means of accurately testing the continuity of the switch. Haven’t investigated past that yet. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

Maybe your front diff is blown, drain fluid see if it's grey, think front diff has magnetic actuator could test it.

Does it work in reverse when you push the override button? I’d check the H-L-N-R shifter and make sure it’s contacting the position sensor switch. Wiggle it around when in gear and see if the AWD light flickers.

If the light isn’t coming on, it’s probably not a mechanical problem. Make sure ignition is in run position properly (wiggle the key a bit). Look for fuses too. Check for broken wires coming out the back of the strut.

If the light is on but still no 4x4. Take your hubs apart and clean them up.
