Checklist for buying a used truck off Kijiji?

I went to registries and ran the VIN today.

No accidents, clean title (not salvage) and no Liens.

Got a Certified Cheque.

Fill out the government of Alberta Bill of Sale.

And the seller has to sign the back of the registration.

Am I missing anything?

Could be like most guys on Kijiji and offer him 1/3 of what he wants lol. Sounds like you got everything. You get a car fax to see if it was in a wreck?

The registry report said it hadn't been in an accident.

Is there a benefit in doing a Carfax over the registry report?

I guess now that you mentioned it the guy said he bought it from Manitoba, so the Alberta registry isn't gonna show anything prior to when it was registered in Alberta.

I when I bought my truck I did a car fax on it as I was more curious what it showed. It showed that it was bought in bc and when it was at the dealer in bc for a recall. Most of the time if the trucks good and drives good you got nothing to worry about. The lean check is the biggest one for me

Check the vin in both door and windshield just to make sure he didn’t accidentally change the dash...

Make sure it didn't spend any time in Grande Prairie lol. Or idle for three years up in Ft Mac.

I bought a BMW M3 at the tail of warranty from the BMW dealer in Calgary.. Was told it was bought in Cgy, spent its life in the city and i was the 2nd owner.. Cool, bought the car, had it for several years NP.
When i was selling it, M3 owners i found out are meticulous when it comes to e46 OEM cars.. I got called out hard by 2 guys when i told them the story i got from the dealer. Both older chaps with accents called me out for BS'ing them about the car.. I pulled the carfax out of curiosity - yea it spent half it's life in Toronto and Ottawa, was in a minor collision and required bumper repairs - all stuff i wasn't aware of..
Good to know.. If it's Used, i just spend the money and pull the CarFax..

Went back to dealer and ragged on the super cool BMW sales guy.. One of his buddies in the dept overheard, thought the guy was a D-bag so sold me his X5 outside the dealer at cost, upgraded to a new one and i've bought another from him since.. He left so i went to a different dealer.

I always check the vin

I asked registries once if a stolen vehicle could be registered, she said it was possible.

This info was a few years back and I hope that its still not the case.....
