That just sucks. There’s no honour in anything anymore...
That's what the drop box worked on for years. They are all over the provinces. It was an honor system, and if you accidentally take a package that's not yours call that company or deliver it to them. Now a days. Everything seems to be a free for all. It's very sad

That’s what happens when one company has a monopoly. I’ve bought 2 skid steers from finning, one used then traded it up to a new one. First salesman was good, second one was a metrosexual douchebag that made it clear that he considered small equipment sales to be beneath his dignity. I had a confrontation with him and got the manager involved. I asked for a different salesman but was told that they have assigned territories, so the manager concluded the sale. I’ve always found the parts guys to be friendly and helpful. Parts are pricey for sure, but no more so than for my kubota or komatsu stuff. Of the three I find komatsu to be the most expensive and hardest to get quickly.

we only have one customer up here that has newer Cat equipment. lots of new Komatsu, JD, Hitachi, Volvo, Tigercat...Cat still dominates the crawler market though.

I still have 2 pre-emissions Cat powered Kenworths, they will have to pry them from my cold, dead hands. Finning means bring lube, but they are second to none when it comes to working on my truck engines. they have stepped up big time on one of my 6NZs, 4 years out of warranty on a platinum in-frame and they still replaced a head and full set of injectors due to a manufacturing defect on a rebuilt head. I just had to cough up for labour.

I've heard some rumors regarding the longevity of our Finning branch in Peace River. I sure hope they aren't true.

those rumors have been floating around for years..... those rumors were one of the driving forces behind the opening of 2G Parts, now in Grimshaw.

when ever there is smoke there is fire. We heard rumours about our sparwood branch closing and laughed about it. 6 months later it was done. we thought with 5 coal mines going full tilt no way they would be that stupid to close it. We were so wrong they were that stupid.

I’m sure there saying the people with the combo or keys are just as crooked. Tough deal here if someone isn’t handing the part to you.

sounds like the new hi-teck drop boxes will have a scan system on them. if you don't have the text or email with the scan system on your phone you won't be able to get into the drop box. From what I was told the new system is coming down the pipeline soon,

I’ll add to the thread, I’m an owner operator. Had a rough batch of luck one day, matter of 6 hours broke some stuff, smashed a window, and blew a main hydraulic hose. Called finning, got msrp quotes from parts.

Windshield $1,200, plus freight, plus tax, plus install...
Hydraulic Hose $490.

Called a guy a know who works at finning, he said they don’t even buy cat glass. They go to a local shop and they come out remove the windshield, take it in and cut another one out for you. Half the price.

Also said which was new to me, that the fittings on the particular hose I blew, well they were reusable. And that takes up 75% of the cost. So I took the main hose off, took it in, and they made it for $175, reused my fittings.

CAT HYDO 10.... I don’t even want to think about how much it costs... I blew the main hydraulic line between the pump and the valve body. As soon as I put the bucket down I heard the change in the pump sound, tried to lift the bucket, it didn’t react, so within 2 seconds it blew to when it turned off. Dumped 15 gallons of oil. Finning doesn’t even refill pails in bulk, they said “we just get the pails from Petro Can like this” so I called Petro-Canada to try and buy equivalent oil from them. And they are more expensive then CAT.

4 pails of oil later...

Cat quality is amazing though, my machine has 19,200 hours on it, had a tormont powertrain rebuild 4,700 hours ago. The one pump was way off so for pressures, and the one output shaft seal on the drive motor needed to get replaced. But with that many hours this thing can work all day long. Takes quite a bit more greasing with the work pins and bushings, but it’s a work horse.

I run all John Deere equipment at work, and the difference between cat and Deere is quite evident. I guess that’s more so to do with age of the equipment. Everything is cheap now, too much electronics, engineers are out of their minds. I’ll stick with my mechanical injection, no emission, and solid steel everything.

Yes on older equipment they use the old reusable ends .
Slide sleeve back , open barbs and pull fitting off . Shorten and repeat in long enough. Lol
Fixed many a line in the bush with couple wrench’s , axe or hacksaw ,jack knife and hammer .

XT3,XT5,XT6 hoses all tough hoses and with reusable ends well worth it. If it has a sleeve on it then its well worth getting it rebuilt.

I worry that Cervus will be to John Deere Ag what Finning is to Cat. So far no problem but it is worrisome.

If the windshield is flat it's super easy... just take it out and bring it to a glass shop and they'll cut some lami for you. Did this for an excavator windshield... $100 for glass and I installed it myself. Didn't even bother to ask for a price at CAT.

Yep, completely flat. Haven’t taken the time to remove it yet, are they silicone sealed on? Or ima wedge style weatherstripping?
