Sorry about the **** luck with injury, but isn't the resort pretty awesome? I was there this time last year, and in Feb 2013. It was damn hot during Feb trip, and Dec 2017 trip the place was only 30% full and nice and quiet!

Update: Was operated on last nite and she is now the new owner of 2 plates and a bunch of screws to hold her leg together... 3 hour operation and she doesn't get a cast, only a support boot to wear during the day. All will be okay.

At least it didn't happen on the first day of your vacation. What an ordeal. Hopefully she heals like it never even happened.

I had the same surgery ~26 years ago after a gnarly 4 wheeler wreck. It's still bothersome.

She was operated on last monday nite and spent monday/tuesday nites in the hospital... She's been at home ever since... Foot elevated and lotsa drugs for the pain. She has a "boot" she can put on to move around with crutches, but can't put much weight on for a few weeks.

Well that sounds like a pretty good prognosis. Maybe you should take her to Mexico for a few weeks while she is convalescing?

Wishing a speedy recovery to Ronnie.....

My ankle break was my first night in NYC, Manhattan on a mobility scooter was interesting.

My American Othopedic Specialist in NYC said my ankle would need surgery (plate & screws). Doctor today in Spruce Grove told me that's not how it works in Canada, I'm in a cast and everything seems good, so I have to wait another 3-4 weeks and get another x-ray. In the States they are quick to operate because its $$$ for service, apparently here if surgery will be required they will wait at least 4 weeks until the 2nd x-ray to determine what and when.

I think I will go for a 2nd opinion though because the Ortho in NYC was pretty adamant about it needing surgery and said if my doctor in Canada did not agree they were welcome to contact him to discuss. The Doctor today just looked at the cast, read the prognosis and said "it should be fine" didn't even have the ability to pull up the xrays on the DVD I have.

I hope the Canadian doctor is right and with my cast and 4-6 weeks I'm good to go, but if I needs further attention I'd rather do it now than wait.

So with 2 plates and a lot of screws, it seems to be healing okay.... She was more worried about her gehko tattoo than anything else. Doctor paul at the miseracordia did an awesome job. We took the waterproof bandaids off last nite to make sure all was okay... It is healing well
