You can't boycott Whistler right now. It's got the most snow in North America. Roll some coal on the way up, come sledding and boycott after riding.

No way it's just him. There a town or city council sitting with him when the discussion to take that action was taking place, there's no way he wrote and delivered that letter on his own. The entire council should be getting branded with this fiasco. It really is time to stop the political correctness and speak loudly against these dumbasses with their ideology that will actually cause future generations far more harm than good. Grandstanding attention seekers .

My husband and I went to the Vivian Krause presentation last night “The cause of oil price discounts”. She was an incredible speaker who showed us the proof and FACTS. I thought I would share with you some snippets of what I learnt. Some of you may already know this.
All I have to say is Wow. WOW. WOW. WOW. It was very sobering, staggering, revolting, frustrating and distressing. There is a campaign from the States called the “Tar Sands Campaign”. It goes back to 2008, and she showed us some slides of other campaigns that started back in 2003.

But the goal of the campaign is to land-lock the tar sands so their crude could not reach the international market where it could fetch a high price per barrel. So they organize national and grassroots groups to block all proposed pipelines. There are foundations that give out grants to various companies to do this exact thing. We are talking millions. 20 million, 16 million, 90 million to fund these groups to protest oil and gas infrastructure. To fly them all over the place to cause trouble, and protest. Because apparently their planes fly on fairy dust.

Without pipelines Canada forfeits $92 billion to the US by 2020. www.92billion.ca This will trickle down and affect our healthcare, education, social programs, housing markets, your jobs etc. etc. etc. If any Canadian thinks stopping oil and gas is going to be good for Canada – it is actually the opposite. And this just gives the States more money to shut us down.

Vivian showed us slides of actual US tax returns from these foundations, that stated their exact purpose and how much money they received in grants, and what it was used for. It was astonishing.
How she started into this was interesting. She was a small supporter of the David Suzuki Foundation. One day she received a letter stating the foundation was supporting a boycott of farmed salmon and promoting wild salmon, as the farmed salmon had a much higher content of mercury and other chemicals. She was shocked - as she worked in the farmed fish industry and knew this to be false information. She has a master’s degree in nutrition and this could not be true. She started researching, as she was not going to support a foundation that provided false information. She then discovered there were environmental organizations forming groups to de-market farmed salmon. She then unexpectedly came across information about grants being given to these organizations to shift market demand away from the farmed salmon. She then began looking into tax returns for large American foundations including the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, the Oak Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. This expanded into her uncovering US-funded Canadian groups fighting the expansion of the oilsands and the construction of pipelines.

Vivian said she could not find ONE PROTEST from individual or groups that were NOT FUNDED by these environmental groups. NOT ONE. Remember Jane Fonda a year or two ago, touring the oil sands, making a statement of how disgusting it was? PAID to do so. Think about it, she’s got to be broke by now, after spending all her 1980’s aerobic tape funds!! Neil Young, Leonardo DiCaprio – PAID! They all need money for their lavish lifestyles and yachts that run on fairy dust.
There are two groups called Open, and Leadnow. They are from the States and publicly take credit for ousting the 2015 Canadian federal election. They were funded for a campaign to help defeat Harper. These people are paid to go door to door and spread false information about the oil and gas sector.
A company called Spirit Eagle – started by the First Nation has secured land through all the Reserves in northern BC to build a pipeline to get to the Northern BC coast. BUT these environmental groups are trying to protect the Great Bear Rainforest off the coast of northern BC, which is a means to impede Canadian oil exports. This ways no tankers can get to Canadian land. The funny thing though, is the protection of the rainforest stops right at the Canadian border. They figure the bears won’t go into the States!!!
These First Nations know the importance of this pipeline to the coast and they depend on its economic stability. Calvin Helin, CEO of Eagle Spirit Energy Holding was on Danielle Smith show on QR 770 this morning.

This is just another uneducated statement made from a industry that is declining due to our countries unstable economy. Being a employee and shareholder of the company I’d like to send their government a letter for repayments of lost wages, stock prices and loss of benefits over the last 5 yrs that all us experienced in the industry! Don’t see anyone in the oil and gas industry getting bailed out when the tough gets going.

People don't want to shut us down for no reason. Its all about the money. Who owns the rights to our fresh water? I am betting that's what the U.S. wants and they will stop all our trade with other countries in order to get it. U.S. didn't become the Power House it is by being nice. It feels like we are in a sand box and they are throwing sand in our eyes so we can't see what they are doing.

Sounds like the Mayor is back tracking big time. I guess he figured a lot of the money that comes to Whistler is from Oil & Gas.
