I've been to Vegas about 9 times in the past 11 years and for a 2.5 hour flight and a long weekend get away.
It can be fun....
Thinking of going Jan 28th - Feb 1st, just a quick juant and fun. Always have stayed on the strip, but looking for Downtown or something different.
A pool at this time is a MUST and everytime
Any suggestions??

Welderup is pretty cool to visit as a car guy and Evel Pie is a Evel Knievel themed pizza place just out of the core of Fremont that has a great slice.

Nascar experience is fun, or VORE off road. we stayed on Fremont street last trip, there's a cool mob museum right close that was pretty interesting.

what hotel did you stay, how did it rate?
plaza hotel and casino I think it was, right on the west end of Fremont. had always stayed on the strip before, thought it would be a nice change. it wasn't 5 star, but free valet parking and good location. I'm not a gambler so I can't comment to the casino part, rooms were dated but clean and price was reasonable.

wanted to stay at the nugget but couldn't get a room on those dates. we went to hang with my buddy who was racing his trophy truck in Laughlin that weekend for the Best In The Desert series, and there was a biker convention of some sort going on.

Does anybody keep their pools open past October? Been a while since I’ve been there.

Golden Nugget is the nicest resort downtown but also priced more like the strip. I prefer staying on the strip all things considered. It's pretty fun playing table games on the pool deck next to the shark tank after dark though on a warm night. Fremont is more of a party atmosphere everyone is wandering the street loaded.

If you ride dirt bikes there’s a sweet ride out by Primm you can do with American Adventure Tours. Part desert part mountain, lots of fun climbs
They have rental bikes and gear
Get Bryce as your guide, he’s a ripper

Last time we went we wanted to do something different to kill a day. We did a 4 hour kayak tour downstream of the dam. Would do it again. Was nice to get out for a afternoon and get away from eating and drinking.

Fremont used to be a good place for cheap drinks, now it's just as expensive as the strip. I'm not sure I'd stay at Fremont again, I always rent a car anyways so I'm thinking of trying somewhere away from both for the next trip.

seeing as the thread is now a sticky, other fun things to do in Vegas are the gun shops where you can shoot full auto machine guns, take the Hoover Dam tour, indoor and outdoor go karts, desert tour UTV rentals, or the ghost town tour. if you want to rent a Harley or the UTV and tour around, do it mid October or later...too damn hot in the desert to enjoy it before then.

if you're a racing fan, the Nascar experience was a blast. will cost you a good chunk of change if you want to drive faster than 150mph though. each set of laps you buy they bump the rev limiter a little higher. my best lap was 146mph, felt like the rental car was faster. tough to keep it off the rev limiter if you're a speed freak.

We usually end up doing a lot of walking up and down the strip. People watching can be priceless...... Been on freemont street a couple of evenings and what a blast
Did the Hoover Dam tour and would highly recommend it.
European women at the pool with a bucket of beer and dark shades...… LOL
If you have the chance to see the Barrett Jackson Auction live at Mandalay Bay is worth every penny and would do it again in a heart beat!!!
Were not gamblers or big spenders, trying to see what else to do...
