Wow....from the STAR in Calgary:

Alberta led the country in auto thefts in 2016 with 22,801, according to numbers from Statistics Canada. The rate of theft in Alberta was 536 per 100,000 people, also the highest in Canada. The next highest was Saskatchewan with a rate of 492 per 100,000 people.
