It’s gonna take some time to start seeing the effects of this. If you look at the states in the USA where they’ve done this, the negatives outweigh the positives. And no one knows the long term health effects because there’s not enough long term data since this is a relatively new thing. Common sense would dictate that lung cancer and other pulmonary diseases will increase as a result of the smoking. From a medical perspective however, there might be a good effect from the edible and medical aspects of the CBD. Again, not enough time has elapsed to provide data, but anecdotally there’s some evidence that it has some medical benefits.

People have been smoking weed for hundreds of years and they do know the long term effects. Yes lung problems can occur same as smoking anything but has far less effect over tobacco. Please clarify what the negative effects have shown in the USA..... people in Colorado started getting cheques from the government because of the tax revenue generated from the sales. Government actually had too much money they needed to give some back. Common sense will let you know that pot has been used to treat cancer patients to help deal with nausea and pain, not to mention the over 100 other symptoms its been proven to help aid without side effects. Oh and it's non addictive like the current crap the doctors currently prescribe. I am the furthest thing from a pot smoker but this is a big plus for the country IF it is done correctly.
So you know there are people in the states doing life in prison for possessing pot while the average term for rape is less then 5 years and murderers can max out after 20years. There is a much bigger picture then a couple stoners being at the front of the line on opening day. Take a look around in your own life and see how many people you know that have been effected be booze whether its car accidents or stupid fights and compare that to what instances of pot use. Maybe you say you don't know anyone who uses pot, then you probably don't know many people or you don't know them well. If that's not enough look at the amount of people arrested based on alcohol vs pot

Doesn't look like the novelty has worn off yet. Line up at Spruce Grove store again this morning. Talked to a few people who had made legal weed purchases and they are going back to their old dealer (if he's still in business). They said the legal stuff was expensive and very poor quality.

Sounds like you’re an expert. Please put me onto the studies showing medically that pot usage is a non issue. Actual scientifically based medical studies, not anecdotal word of mouth stuff.
Pot has been used for some medical conditions,but the actual data is scarce. Anecdotes are not data.
Colorado has had legalized marijuana for several years now. Welfare costs have almost tripled, vagrancy is becoming problematic, petty crime is up, impaired driving charges and deaths are up, admissions to ER’s for psychotic episodes in certain age groups are up over 500%, just to name a few. The other states have just recently legalized it so data is just starting to come in.
I don’t care who is in prison in the states nor why they’re there.
Alcohol abuse is a problem, no doubt. Using that fact to justify marijuana use is idiotic. I know several people who regularly use pot. And a few of them I would say, abuse it and are addicted. They say they “need “ to smoke it to get through the day. They sound exactly like the alcoholics I’ve known over the years. If you “need” to use ANYTHING to get through the day, you have a substance abuse problem.
IMHO, marijuana should have been decriminalized, not legalized. I don’t see any advantage to introducing availability of another intoxicant, particularly to our young people. There are studies showing that marijuana has negative effects to brain development in teenagers. I think we’ve all know people that we called “ pot heads” that were, shall we say, not exactly on the ball. Ask yourself if you want your kids to turn out like that.
If you enjoy using marijuana, good for you, I don’t really care. But if you think it’s legalization won’t have negative consequences, then we have to disagree.

Kind of weird was out in my backyard today and sniff sniff I guess the neighbors are doing what’s now perfectly legal, having a puff stinking me out, awesome. Suspect they couldn’t smelll the beer I was drinking.

I don’t like the figures saying impaired’s by marijuana consumption are up because until recently, they had a very hard time testing for it on the roadside and in many cases alcohol was included in the case so it was a mute point. I believe the numbers were always there, just never factored in.
Now that they are actually testing for it it looks really bad so they run with the numbers.
