40 years as a gateway drug , but now acceptable cause some idiot group of politicians deemed it lawful. What an absolute joke our lawmakers and government has become.
I’m 40 and have been smoking since I was 15. It hasn’t led me to any other drugs and I have been very successful. I’m pretty excited to try and get my mom on it to help her with her poor sleeping. It completely cured my migraines as a teenager. I used to have to lay in my basement in total darkness until I would puke and then get the cold sweats. Sometimes it would be 10-12 hours of that. Started on the pot and haven’t had anything worse than a standard headache or self induced booze headache. It’s socially acceptable to go out and have some drinks and weed will become the same eventually. Just need to get over the stigma attached to it. Like I said before though I don’t agree with the public use of it. It should be treated the same as alcohol.

I can’t wait. No more weird drug dealers! LOL. I don’t agree with the in public smoking. I really don’t see an increase in people driving hi. If anything there will be less as now the cops will be targeting it. What’s really wrong with society is vaping. Now that crap needs to be stopped.

Agree on the vape chit... I can't buy Primetime flavored cigars anymore there banned in Canada because there "flavored" but i see Vape juices everywhere in unicorn purple bubble gum pixie dust flavor.

Gonna be 50 different types of pot, but yeah, no flavours for chew or cigars, WTH?

I know that Calgary voted differently than Edmonton. There's a list of cities / municipalities that states where it is legal and not legal to do it on public property.

Well people had the argument that alcohol is legal why cant pot be. So why isn’t alcohol allowed to be consumed in public. There is No second hand issues with alcohol being consumed in public.

So if it can be smoked on the streets there is no law about kids being present???

I cant believe how many are excited about this, im just glad there not allowed to smoke it in public, in my town.
I hate the smell of skunk, some want one for a pet I spose.

How many parents do you know who smoke cigs or drink in front of kids?

I find it interesting that BC will only have one store opening on Wednesday. It is in Kamloops.

Calgary only has 2 stores opening.

What is the hold up other that BS red tape? Friggin' bureaucrats can't work fast enough???

This is the start of an enormous $hit show. Everybody’s insurance is gonna go up as a result of the increase in impaired driving charges and accidents, employers will be faced with increased liability insurance and costs associated with drug policies and testing programs etc. The only silver lining in this cloud of pot smoke is that the people who aren’t habitual users will stand out from the herds of people in a fog and will be more employable and sought out by employers.

I don't think it's going to be that bad man. I'm not for legalization (decriminalization for sure, but not really legalization). If anything, I think the roads will be safer becuase they'll be fishing for weed impared drivers as bad or even worse than they do for alcohol. There's a lot of people who smoke already and drive high regularly without giving it a second thought - I bet they'll think twice now.

I cannot think of any at the moment.
Smoking is one thing, drinking is another. Thats there choice to expose their kids to that, and there is laws about that.

Personally, I think they should have treated it like alcohol where it's an impairment so it can't be consumed/smoked/vape'd etc in public. And there are some municipalities that are treating it as such. Less exposure to the public that way, still a 'legal' item to part-take in, just has to be done in privacy, then afterwards you can walk out your door or down whyte ave in public all you want.

Not saying I haven't had a beer while walking down whyte ave before... and I'm sure there will be people still smoking cannabis down whyte, just like they do already.

And another thing..............you can grow 4 plants for personal use but we still can't run a still for hard liquor.

Yes, we can make beer and wine at home but not the hard stuff.

get your mom to try a pot cookie for sleeping. I have this rare illness and it affected my sleep in a big way! Did the sleeping pills etc etc but many side affects so after hearing my wife and friends nagging at me for 6 years I finally decided to try it. I don't smoke so my wife made a cookie from pot butter and I take about the size of a quarter at around 10 PM. Wake up in the morning from a good sleep (not 100% but way better than without). This was two years ago now and haven't looked back. I don't take it for recreational but simply for sleeping aide.

I don't think things are going to change much, the people who smoke now will keep on smoking, some in the open and some behind closed doors still. There are going to be some who try it for the first time and like it but there will be some that won't like it. Personally I would prefer a pot smoker working for me then a heavy drinker.
