I don’t trust trucks one bit anymore, Humbolt was not a fluke these camel jockeys are scary to be around on the highways. Must be tough for the real truckers to have much cred anymore.

Loads are not being paid by the hour anymore and neither are the drivers. They are paid BY LOAD to the drivers which has resulted in these guys flying everywhere. Newer trucks without wagons stop very good loaded, but mine is still limited to 120kmh.

If you’d like to complain and cause action, every truck hauling aggregates has a ASGA number on it. Front bumper, side and back. Call the Alberta Sand and Gravel Association, give them them the number and your complaint. Every truck that hauls from pits has to be registered with the ASGA and show that number.

Not true at all, a tons of trucks have nothing to do with ASGA (mine included). It is simply a private association many belong to. None of the pits I've ever bought from have cared, or even asked about it. To haul for certain companies yes you do need to be a member, but far from all.

i hauled a couple days last week from pit by villenue to edmonton and also today, and when im doing 110 kmh those guys pass me like im hardly moving and you can watch them along the villenue hi-way looking to pass people who are doing the speed limit, there is going to be a serious accident from the speed they are pushing to do. nobody wants to ever sit at the random inspections but the inspectors need to have more of them along with putting radar along routes having this issue.

The ASGA is a total joke. I was turning into my subdivision on Sept 18, 2017, and a truck was flying by with gravel coming out of his overfilled box, three large rocks in my window and one on my roof. Truck was 2 months old. I had a dash cam as well and was able to get the number. I contacted the ASGA gave them all my info and someone was to get back to me within 2 weeks. Never heard back. Phoned in and put a second report in, they said same thing, so waited another 3 weeks with nothing. Called in again they put a third claim in, never heard back. So I did some research, and filed a statement of claim against the trucking company and the ASGA. Now my claim is $3800 rather than $280 for a windshield. We will see how that goes when the court date comes, but I have all the documents so both parties can have fun with this.

I guess what’s the point if that’s how they resolve things. Likely just another $$ grab for truckers.

Had my front window and grill smashed out on hwy 627 a few years ago by oncoming gravel truck. Didn't get a truck number so called both companies who were hauling that route. Both claimed they had no trucks on the road at that time and must have been the other guy. Kind of funny in retrospect.
