Have you had anything stolen???

Its alot of work and a large pain in the azz dealing with the insurance company!!
And my insurance is easy to dl with compared to the horror stories I have heard.
Large items are easy but what about all the small stuff?
Do you have receipts for every item in your truck!!

Give your head a shake dude!!
I sure Have, truck and 2 sleds, garage broken into twice all tools and bikes gone , truck and camper broke into camping Lac Las biche bikes gone again....

All insured, all locked up, all replaced.

I keep all receipts for everything, always. My accountant loves it.

Thats the problem with this bloody country, the weak are protected. A home owner cannot defend his/her property and belongings without possible repercussions and the crack heads know it. They will revisit the easy pickings.

You think your insurance company is going to keep insuring you if you make more than 2 claims?

I would check your insurance clauses! Most insurance will deny a theft claim if vehicles are left unlocked or with the keys in them!

Who on here would actually shoot and potentially kill someone over some meaningless crap in a truck or some tools from a shop. That would change your life so much for the worse. Your lawyer expense and possible jail time would destroy your family. I’m all for protecting your family and your self if faced with potential violence but just shooting someone on your property stealing or not is pure stupidity. Like I said before if you come in my house you’re going to have a bad day and will probably be leaving laying down.

People work hard for their "meaningless crap". People are damn tired of having absolute wastes of skin taking what they want, getting away with it and leaving the victims to ante up to replace their "meaningless crap". Whether it is insured or not, it costs to replace and in turn all of our rates go up. That "meaningless crap" may be the pickup, equipment or tools that they use to generate an income to keep their family going. Without that and having to wait months for almighty insurance to determine "if" your meaningless crap will be replaced and if so, what percentage will be covered, you now have to pay because insurance won't cover it all. And oh yeah, while you are waiting to see if insurance will cover your meaningless income-generating crap, you are unable to make a living.
Evidence would be needed for a conviction! I know that the "Neighbourhood Pact" is in effect in my rural hood.
If you think that just messing someone up who has come on your property is any better, think again.....your lawyer expenses and jail time from anything that you are convicted of could potentially also destroy your family and your own life!

You tell me, you're the internet expert on everything.

You do not have to heed my warning. Just hoping to help people who live in thieving areas what to expect, instead of getting blindsided by reality.

Guess who's leaving laying down will depend on how many, how big and how they're armed eh ? Personally , i'm gonna make sure the odds are in my favour .

NE 8-19-15w4 come in for a beer and you can meet my children that I really enjoy raising. I don’t think it would be worth shooting a crack head over some wrenches and a truck and going to prison. Say hi to my Great Pyrenees when you come by. She’s a real sweetie if your welcome there.

You must have manure for your brains, how about ask the thief if that truck or pack of wrenches is worth his life!?? Maybe he would think twice about touching what isn’t theirs, if there were more people who would shoot them and got away with it the stealing would go way down,

why the insults? thats his personal preference and must say I agree. Not worth defending yourself in court when you are the victim and they decide to scrutinize your millisecond of a decision. After all, we don't live in the Wild West anymore.

I have manure for my brains because I don’t think it would be worth at minimum a year of in and out of court and paying huge lawyer bills. If found not guilty I’m still out a ton of money and time of my life stressing over the outcome. If I actually did kill a guy then it would be even worse. My family would suffer tremendously while all this was going on and all over some tools. I just don’t feel it would be worth it. How’s the guy from Okotoks doing these days? I bet he has some major lawyer bills piling up and can you imagine his stress waiting to go to trial for that. If he would have phoned the cops and let them do their jobs maybe they would have caught the guys and maybe not but that night would have been a distant memory and his stuff would have been replaced or forgotten about by now and he would have been better off. Even if all charges are dropped against him he will have lost much more than those crack heads would have taken. As I have said before if someone enters your house then by all means you take them out. I am 15 min from brooks and am well equipped to protect my family if needed. Sorry if my belief is not the same as yours and I’m glad there are people like you willing to give up everything to take out a few crack heads!! Keep fighting the good fight and maybe I will donate to your go fund me page when your broke from paying your lawyer.

It's even worse in the city. I've had so much stuff stolen from my shop that I don't bother calling the cops or making a claim if it's not a 10,000$+ dollar loss.

Have a building and a locked compound, not sure what else I can do besides quit owning things.

Had a bum a couple months back looking for bottles in the trash and never thought much of it because that is normal activity in the industrial park. Came out side a few minutes later and the mother fawker had punched and fawker up the drivers side mirror on my brand new truck!

I was pissed, so I went to go find the guy with f

Full intentions of kicking the crap out of him. Found him a block away and confronted him.

The guys like "it wasnt me" pulls out his ID to show me. his gums are bleeding, looks like he's dieing or something.
And here's me in my 90g ride giving him a hard time. Lol

So I give him a lecture about getting off the drugs and getting a job ext ext if I had any money on me probably would have gave it to him. Lol

Not sure why I shared this, thought it was funny I guess.

I do know that if you have something of value, someone else is going to want to take it from you.

Government are the biggest crooks out there, and I'd sooner deal with crackheads...lol

Trouble is, small crimes that are tolerated encourage the bad guys to keep coming back because they know you’re an easy mark. First a few tools, then maybe your ATV, or your vehicle, or maybe the guy leaves a note and says if you don’t leave him money somewhere he’ll come back and burn your garage down...how far are you willing to bend? Suppose he breaks in when your daughter is home alone and rapes her... what then? Well, he didn’t kill her, just raped her so I guess she’s lucky...she can get counselling....no permanent damage done....
People need to decide whether to shoot, or call the cops. Just don’t do both.

I understand your frustration, but rolling over is the wrong thing to do. If you see someone lurking around your property, run him off. Don’t tolerate vagrants, aggressively get rid of them. They’re lazy by nature and likely won’t come back to retaliate because it’s too much work. And don’t feel sorry for some homeless drug addict. It’s Darwinism at work.
