It is scat. But do you know what has deposited it?

This is common in our yard but most of the specimens have been dry and have shrunk. These are quite fresh. I am calling on the wisdom of the experts of this great forum to provide some well educated answers.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
The creature is marking its territory and the second log could be a different creature marking on top of the 1st. Be on the lookout for more log deposits. According to nature, you no longer own your property. They are natures survey stakes!

How big is it? Looks like frog poop to me. But depending how big it is, that might be ruled out.

Winner, winner for a wiener dinner!!

It is actually a western toad. We've had the scat around for years and I got one on a game camera a few years ago. Most of it was on the garage door thresholds sort of tucked into the corners.

As to the skunks, we don't have any. Haven't seen nor smelled any and IMHO, we are too high but with climate change that could be changing. The same for raccoons. Sparwood and Fernie have both but the raccoons are definitely less in Sparwood.

To further your knowledge of living things pooping here is a toad on a YouTube video (it is not too long and the best of the bunch). Once again, it has been brought to my attention that YouTube has everything you ever wanted to know.
