Im new to this, I have a 1 year old boy now. My only question is why do some people let girls dress like they're 20 when they're 8? lulus, short shorts, bikinis... put on some clothes. I remember trying to snap a bra when I was 12.... through a big cotton t shirt, now its spaghetti straps and all the colors mom should wear... My lady wants at least one more child, I'm in for trouble

Our girls dress conservatively especially swimwear, as does my wife. And yes you are in for trouble, big time hahaha

I don't like lying, never have. I always came down of my kids hard when I caught them in a lie and always went very easy when they told the truth. I get the truth more often then not.

If you really want to drive your point home take the electronics away. I have found no access to friends on phones or computers drives home the point very well. Sadly they seem to think they will miss something without them in their hands. Only thing they are missing is all the drama and BS.

I'd have to agree. No devices work on our daughter for punishment. They seem to go thru phases testing..hopefully it's a phase and will pass.

like others have said take away their most prized possession in life..... PHONE (worked with my youngest very well). They will think their life has been ruined LOL. Good luck! With my two oldest ones they did not have cell phones/Ipads like the current generation does so they got to work around the house on jobs they normally didn't do. i.e. yard work

Thanks again guys! I told her you can catch more flies with honey than sh!t, then I asked her if I lie to her, she said no, then I told her I loved her and the next time she gets caught lying she will hate me for a minimum of two years before she gets over it. Gawd she only turns eleven in January...

Good luck. It is not easy. We have 3 girls. All married off and have babies.

Loss of commutation with friends, cell text, computer ends the world for them.
That worked well.

Also try explaining that lying is a lot of work. She could get confused and change the story.

FYI. When they move out and have kids. They will come ask for advice.
Now they tell us what we thought was correct.
My one daughter was saying about baby bottles. I said oh they only get off the bottle for a few years and then it’s beer.
I got the oh Dad.

My seven year old son is having the next 4 days without any tv or electronics. We were playing hockey in the backyard and he got busted about lying about a goal that was scored. First time he’s been caught lying and going to put a stop to it right away. Being honest is one of the toughest lessons in life with the greatest rewards. He’s a great kid and want to keep it that way. Good luck with your girl Joel. Tough love is worth it.

Tough love is hard to do but if you don’t you might regret it later. We all grew up without phones and computers and we all seem almost normal!!!! Easier to fix at young age than later. I’m hoping they will thank me one day but lets see.

To always encourage the truth with our 3 girls rule number 1 was that they would never get in trouble for telling the truth, no matter what! You have to be prepared to stick with that even in difficult situations, but they came to respect it and realized it was always to their advantage to tell the truth.
