Now isn't this a sweet deal! Friggin' people can buy a lot of stuff (booze, cigarettes, pretty soon marijuana, tattoos, fancy clothes, expensive holidays, new sleds, new RV's, just about anything and claim they are having financial trouble and have elected to not pay the BCHydo bill because they know it will be forgiven in part. Just phuckin' unreal.

And would you like to comment on this little gem taken out of the article????

"The start-up cost is $600,000 and annual administration costs are expected to be around $900,000 per year."

This just plain bothers me, but i was just fishing to find out if it irks anyone else. So many people figuring handouts are a good thing.

I understand what they are trying to do. Family of 5 main money maker gets cancer, or child gets sick needs extensive care, and a lot of money. This will help them out. BUUUUUUUTTTTT I don't think it is up to the consumers to fork this bill. Maybe they should set up a charity, so that if we choose to give money to help people that are having a hard time we can choose to do so. I already pay enough taxes as is. If I want to help out more I will. It also seems to be this is away BC hydro can get money from unpaid hydro bills. I also don't like finding out about an extra charge from somewhere that is not BC hydro informing me. Another thing, Will other companies follow suite if this is allowed.

as a business owner my customers would lose their $hit if I started adding extra for the clients that don't pay their bills. Unbelievable and I am afraid this is starting a very bad trend. I can see it now..... "its only 3 bucks why not". Today 3 bucks tomorrow 20 bucks etc etc. God I hate this govenment!

It is when other companies follow suit this will become a problem. Telus starts charging a fee for the same thing than the banks start charging a help bankruptcy fee etc etc. Not a good at all. I don’t like to be forced into giving my money to charity. I have my interests that I would like to donate to and I like to have that Choice. If Bc hydro gave the option to donate I might do that, because I do think it is worth to help hard working families who have come into hard times.

Maybe we could throw an extra tax at the pumps, so those lazy asses that will not work, can drive around with free fuel in their vehicles.

We already had them for two terms, they closed down half our mines, created a gazillion useless government workers, handed out money to people who should not be on the dole, put us 44 billion in debt. Brought in a ton of regulations. But this is a new one... pay extra on your bills so those lazy ****s do not have to pay for theirs.... not sure why I find this so offensive. I guess if the tax you on it, it is arms length. But taking it right out of your bank account in person.... and that prick did not even win the election. I wonder how our 2.7 billion surplus from the previous liberal government is going now.

That's the way the NDP rolls. They are socialists plain and simple. Every NDP government in Canada has ruined the economies of the provinces in which they have been elected. Alberta is the latest example. We are now $54 billion in debt after 3 years of NDP with no plans to balance the books other than raise taxes through the roof. The incentive to work is greatly reduced when all you are doing is supporting the people who don't work or who have meaningless government jobs.

You may as well join the collective hive as in the Borg in Star Trek: "We are the Borg (NDP). You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."

Mike de Jong had predicted the surplus to be 2.8 billion, the NDP calculated it to be only 2.7 billion dollars surplus, after spending 100 million in a few months. None the less it was a surplus, next year everyone will be saying.....What surplus. There never was a surplus. I hope they make it illegal to change the voting rules to their favor both horgan and trudeau are doing just that.
