If you believe cbc the brain washing is complete. Wait until campaigning starts our national broadcaster had a significant roll in getting Trudeau elected in 15 and now have to pump their boy hard to get re-elected even though the unindoctrinated know what a destructive fool he is.

It seems strange to me to compare one bad leader to another as they are all repulsive in their own special way. Sometimes one is ahead of the other but it is still a horse race. Thankfully we are coming up on the home stretch here in Canada. Hopefully there will someone new to crucify a year from now. Merry |Christmas :)

What's strange about comparing the two people who are in power in the two countries that most affect me?
Most of the hate for Trump is driven by unrelenting and sometimes fictional reporting on everything and anything by an obviously biased media. Most of the hate for little potato comes from the fact he's an entitled moron who not for his last name, would still be a part time drama teacher.

One is doing it for free, while the other one has ethics commissioner investigating his foundation. He never did repay the money for his vacation which the ethics commissioner found him guilty of fraud. It will take years to figure out how much money has been stolen if they ever can.

This crowd funding suggestion to aid in the wall construction is interesting. Makes a lot of sense in many ways, Was a large part of Trumps election platform and he got voted in. Suggestions are it will be supported ( by donation , not verbally) by many Democrats who believe in the premise but don't want to speak against their own party.

CBC is no different than many other news sources in that it predictably reports the news from a certain perspective being a leftist/unionist point of view. Back in the day (late 80's to early 90's) when the TV news was a half hour recap of the day and we got most of our detailed information from newspapers I read an article that illustrated how the same story is reported differently by the different papers. It was said that if a ship sank at sea:

The Financial Post would report the event as a shipping loss of hull and a possible lawsuit by passengers and workers and fines for pollution (all insurance and money related);
The Journal would report it by focusing on the human aspect - the anguish of the passengers as the ship settled and the environmental catastrophe caused by leaking fuel oil on local fishermen and wildlife;
The Sun would sensationalize it by picking up some obscure angle alleging the Captain left first and wouldn't let any of his crew onto his boat unless they gave him a month's pay.

All three reporting on the same event. All three reporting the event from their point of view and editorial style primarily to suit their audience. All three substantially different.

I recalled the article vividly when the Costa Concordia sank as there were exactly those three stances taken by the various news agencies.

If you want to get the entire picture, you need to look at most everything that is out there, do what you can to research which seems to make most sense and eliminate those who are merely out to sensationalize something purely to gain an audience or support a cause (both far left and far right). Not easy and in some cases, not even worth it.

Actually a pretty good idea IMO as those who want it, Republican and Democrat, can support it with their own wallets. I haven't seen a current total but it collected $16 million in 10 days which is significant. Hilariously a "counter" - go fund me page raised $60,000 for ladders. Apparently another has been set up to raise money for shovels to tunnel. Obviously the second two are not getting much in the way of donations as they are not serious (or assumed to be serious).

I have noticed that people "want" the government to build/do things without regard for where the government "gets" the money. The USA is currently under a shut down primarily it seems, by Trump's demand for funding for a wall. It would be interesting if those most in favour of it had to give up something else they want to get it built. I wonder if it would still have the appeal they currently give it and for some, that might be a resounding yes.

I personally think this is a longer term project that requires multi year funding and attention but in this age of aircraft and international travel, it will be of limited use as was the great wall of China when people were on foot and horseback. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Great_Wall_of_China

I totally agree, and in a related way, what immediately comes to my mind is this open arms immigration BS, whether legal or illegal. Its like if someone illegally crosses the border, its an automatic right that we should be responsible for their health, housing , clothing, nutrition, and their future, forever, if not , we are horrible human beings ??????? The costs of that , no problem, the money will just be there. Even the ones who come with a stated agenda , religious or political, that is 100 % adverse to our accepted standards. Maybe the wall would help minimize this ??

What a tremendous pile of horsesh*t you are pushing out there. Suggesting that dislike of Trump is anti american is nonsense and is the same as suggesting dislike of Trudeau is anti Canadian. Dislike of either of these leaders is due simply because neither are particularly good in any spot and truly suck in many others.

As to where one gets their news, everyone struggles to find someone that sounds reasonable and usually has to read three reports on the same news article to decide what is the closest to the truth.

Accusing someone else of hatred is something that is VERY Trump-like as is calling everyone else names. Trump does it to fire up his supporters. Why are you doing it?

Your reaction is another example of rampant TDS. You need to read my previous response and take the time to comprehend it before you overreact. And your anecdotal dissection of media bias might have been true back when you read it, but present day bias is totally different. Modern media looks at a news items value as to how it can be spun to make trump look bad instead of simply reporting the facts. They hate trump so badly that they’re willing to alter or omit the facts in order to make him look bad.

And pretty much supports my suggestions that you have to read a point from different perspectives, find what facts you can and make the best decision you can with respect to that particular subject. Every paper, magazine and now blog have always reported stories from their editor's point of view so while the medium has changed from paper to TV to any number of blogs and so called news reports, the effect is exactly the same. Part of the challenge is what is news? To me it should center around factual information and by far and large, this seems to be coming less and less relevant as it is only the writers opinion that matters. Before you say it, yes that is my opinion but \I am not holding it out as NEWS which so many others do.

Not just Trump but he is a popular target as he insists on drawing attention to himself even when clearly he should just STFU. He brings most of this down on his own head. The man just can't seem to make a straight forward statement without adding a pile of easily identified BS. What would you think of your boss if he stoof up and said "I got you a 10 percent raise" when it was only 2.6%. What a maroon.

LOL, I'd realty really like to hear what he thought of your ideas , you're on here as much as he's on Twitter. And you've certainly expressed your opinion as much as he has . But he was voted in . I think so much of what he says is calculated and contrived to make a point or is set up fodder for something he's gonna do, and very often he's using the obvious agenda to his gain. And he is doing what he told the voters he was gonna do , before they voted .

Unless you watch Fox News it is damn near impossible to find anyone in the media that has a positive story about anything Trump has done. I agree with a lot of you that Trump can be an idiot but the guy has gotten some good results through his policies. He hasn't tried to fool the American public on what he is trying to accomplish. Lets take a small poll here from the closet Liberals following this site and this thread. One simple question..... Do you support illegal immigration and if you don't then how the hell would you solve the problem? Give us an argument for no wall.

So now that you have come out of the closet what is your solution on dissing the wall idea? I'm not trying to be a pr**k and start a fight, just would love to hear a solution that costs less than $5 billion and is a better idea? I can't get anybody on facebook to answer the question for some reason? They just keep calling me a racist? Lmao!

Its a shame to hear that Secretary of Defence James "Mad Dog' Mattis quit the Trump cabinet. He was a man of integrity. He wanted to stay on till the end of February to give time for a replacement to be found, but trump thought he didn't need a flake like him around and gave him a few day to get out. Trump is making the calls himself now, after all he is master military statigest. It reminds me of the time Saddam Hussein thought he could run the Iraqi Army. Very scary times for the free world. Here are a few of the many quotes from Mad Dog. I particularly like #13 maybe trump should read #10 https://freebeacon.com/national-security/the-best-from-mad-dog-mattis/
