Well the overload hauling was "alleged" so the cops had no proof and that is why the charges were dropped. They need more than heresay. You would think there would be some kind of documentation if hauling into a waste management facility. I would think they charge by the ton for material hauled in.

No doubt.
If they were paid by load they would be underloading to save on diesel.

Just drive between Revelstoke and Golden, enough said, those AHOLE need serious regulating imo. Driving that stretch is not nice and extremely dangerous, because of not all but too many poorly trained Ahole trucker's going WAY too fast.
Every time i seem to drive that stretch i find a trucker on my ass at 110km/hr. I let them by then they drop in speed to 90km/hr. You try to pass and they speed up, you nearly have to get up to 130-140km/hr to get by so they can be on your ass again.
The entire trucking industry need's a good make over with mandatory graduated schooling and be speed regulated. IMO

There are a lot of good drivers out there. But your word is apparently gospel. When I’m going over the pass I get lots of lights to pass. Pretty easy to tell the new Canadians. As far as the speed changes.. you know a loaded 53’ can’t hold speed right? And shouldn’t....

Do you drive a truck?

My point is there are many variables while driving 60000kg loads down the road. You can loose 80km/h on a hill and might need to run for the next one to avoid holding up traffic. Trucks are very heavily regulated as is, if nothing else maybe the public should be regulated. Majority of accidents I've come across has usually been because a impatient driver takes a chance passing a truck rather then waiting for a safe place or passing lane.

Yes all people coming from the prairie to the mountains should be restricted to 90km/h unless they can pass a mountain driving test

No semi should go faster than 90km ever

I agree, there should be a special license endorment on a class one for mountain driving. Road test should be conducted in a mountain pass with a loaded test vechile.

They should be governed to 90km/h forsure

You bet, govern then to 90 kmh. Then watch the lineups behind trucks, 2-3 kms long. Watch Mr I know everything civilian vehicle passing on corners, solid lines, up hills with no sight lines or passing lanes.

What a lot of civilian vehicles dont understand or realize is you are now in that trucks work place. You get on their ass's, you dont dim your lights, you ride along in a trucks blind zone, then you get impatient and pass in a bad spot. You bitch at a truck for speeding up to run a hill then you bitch at a truck because it slows down going up a hill. You pull your camper down the middle of the road at 88 kmh and make no effort to ride the white line so the truck can see around you to pass. You slow down to 75 kmh for a corner with your lovely RV. You speed up to 110 when there is a passing lane. You pull out from a side road right in front of a truck so he has to nail his brakes despite you have no idea of what speed he is traveling at, 10 k faster than you or 10 k slower.

Simple fact is most civilian vehicles feel its their god given right to be able to travel at whatever speed they feel good about and get royally pissed when the come up on a loaded truck. You know what? Trucks make our economy roll. That sled or quad your juiced up to ride this weekend would have never gotten here without a truck, that fuel your putting in your tank would never have gotten to the service station without a truck, those groceries would not have made the store, your beloved beer would still be sitting at the brewery.

It isnt a perfect word, yes there should be better driver training, yes there should be more regulations, but I am not just talking about trucks, I am talking about all vehicles on the road today! I have come across allot of horrible crashes in my time, entire families wiped out, mothers and baby's, young married couple headed out on their honeymoon. What are the most common factors I see? Impatience and distraction. Doesnt matter if its a truck or civilian vehicle.

There should be a special endorsement for all vehicles traveling in the mountains, not just trucks.

I agree 100%, there is no need for them to go faster.
The other problem is BC roads are not well suited for such heavy traffic, the road system is 40 years behind time, suitable for the 1970 and 80's but today the traffic increase and truck usage is over whelming the road system.

Also part of the problem is traffic is provincial regulated, every province regulates slightly different. We should take note how Europe move's truck traffic, they are restricted to speed, lanes and where they can go. They move way more truck's, more efficiently then we do.
I know this cause i was stationed at CFB Germany for a few years and did plenty of driving there, you don't see truck's speeding and holding up traffic like here.

Geographics my friend, geographics. It is much cheaper and easier to engineer a road in the flat lands than in the mountains. Maybe we should install toll boths at all highways entering BC to help pay for those upgrades to out 40 year behind the times road system? Believe me BC'ers are paying their fair share to use those highways, are the outsiders contributing enough?
