Still planning on going but haven't decided to as to where yet. I'm not going to let the dumb ass decisions of our politicians stop me from doing anything. Like you said "a lot of great people and businesses there" . Why take it out on them. Sure it might cost a little more now to travel in BC if the gas prices spike, but that's the price we have to pay for the government that we have. Boycotting the people of BC serves no useful purpose. If you want to make a statement do at election time.

No change in plans...but then again I live in BC.

I don't think boycotting BC business is the way to go although I would love to see $3 liter gas on the Island and the lower mainland this spring and summer...let the masses know what a real Carbon Tax would feel like. I'm willing to pay the additional cost for our June trip to the Island to see my mother.

I will travel some in BC this summer but not as extensively as planned. I will keep close the eastern border where the price of gas is somewhat reasonable. Paying $1.50/l in Vancouver in March was enough for me already.

Here is another group of out of touch lower mainlanders which should be boycotted by the tourism industry.

He did have some valid points. Refining it in Alberta would create more jobs. Why sell to Asia when we can get more from the Us. But the BS of it being safer to pipe refined produce than diluted bitumen is a load of crap. And how does he think that all his festival goers are not creating a harmful effect on the environment. Them lower main land leaf lickers all travel in cars powered buy oil yet they don't want a pipeline to bring the fuel to them.

Sorry fernie just had to blow off some steam.

Thanks for sharing Doug, most are small businesses I have never dealt with and have no intention of dealing with however I did see a couple of brands that I will quit supporting. Unfortunate because their product is superb but here we are: Salt Spring Coffee, Crannog Ales and Natures Path Foods.

Seeing that BC relies on the oil and gas industry for its tourism, I hope more people feel this way about spending money in BC.

There is alot of good businesses here in Alberta that will be affected if this TMPL project is canceled.

Unfortunately, Pipes, we (Albertan's) can't vote in BC so its tough to make that statement at voting time. The only way that me as an Albertan can fight this is to not support BC products.
I realize that the actions that BC is taking is not supported by a great number of BC residents but yet I don't see a lot of them speaking up against their Premier. And now they are looking into a pipeline to the coast to supply their airport with foreign fuel???? WTF??? This has to stop. The residents of BC who are against the actions of their Premier need to start taking action.......speak up ....be heard!

I have always tried to support those who support me/us.........
I'm in the Ag industry and I always try and choose Alberta made/supplied food products....Alberta Beef, Alberta Pork, etc because its those farmers who help me make a living.

So, until this Bull**** in BC is settled, I am consciously choosing to support "other" products/destinations if there is a choice. If I am buying a bottle of wine, it probably won't be BC wine. If I am looking at travelling, for now, BC will probably not be my choice of a destination....although I love going to BC.

I do realize that. My post that you are replying to was not limited to Albertans. I agree with you Cat that the people of BC need to get on board and start opposing their government if they don't feel that it is doing the right thing. You have to remember that the BC people voted for a minority Liberal government. A minority government will never work in Canada as long as the opposition parties can join forces and overthrow the elected party. The people of BC should be pissed at the back yard sand box maneuver the the NDP and Green party pulled. The only criticism I have against your stand is that by boycotting the BC people that voted is that they did not vote for the government they got stuck with. I know where you are coming from, you have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. You are 100% that the people of BC that oppose the Horgan and his hoolangins should speak up and be heard. We as Albertans should should make every effort as well to help our neighbors. Remember we are all in it together with the exception of the self serving politicians.

You did read the posted article that said hundreds of business leaders support Horgan didn’t you?

We all know Horgan is being steered by the Green party and you would think there are one two elected NDP MLA's who see the destruction that Horgan is causing and leave the NDP caucus. If a couple of them would listen to their conscious...to their constituent's and walk across the floor as an independent, then Horgan would lose his power to do what he pleases

They are grasping at straws! The refining aspect in North America is under utilized already. None of the big oil producers will build another refinery because there isn't a return on their investment. Here's another BNN article to chew through. This isn't the one I was looking for but there are some good points in it.

Will be staying in North bc this year. Sensible gas prices still and a lot of small business’s that I don’t mind supporting. I really like touring south west bc as does my wife but tough to do at $1.50. Not to mention hotels and meals. Gonna keep it north.

I refused to go sledding in BC all winter. Something needs to be done. I cant believe Syncrude and Suncor still have employees from BC.
