Upgraders do not make diesel.
Refinerys do.

Upgraders make synthetic crude but it is still crude oil.

I agree adding any value to our oil is a good idea but right now there is no incentive to bring a upgrader online.

Hell Nexen won't even repair the one they blew up.

My vision
If our PM had some lady balls he would make a raw bitumen pipeline header and a finished product header (gasoline/diesel/jet) from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

Ship loading out both ends.
Each province could build their own refineries or upgraders and export as they wish.

It would benefit every single Canadian.

I did not say it was pure diesel, upgraded heavy oil crude like Suncors OSA smells and looks like diesel and flows to the refinery In Edmonton, there are different products and batches sent down that line.
There are very few refineries that can handle heavy oil, the redwater refinery is designed to handle it.

Our light sweet oil actually trades at close to WTI prices, so upgrading heavy oil here IMO is better for Alberta instead of sending it across the border to be refined and than sold back to us.

There is different methods to upgrade oil.
There is more than one reason why Nexan cold stacked there upgrader, as well.

It would be nice to see capital money put into upgraders and get the mod yards full again. Alberta needs another major project right now that does not rely on shipping our product out of alberta.

Also part of the problem is most refineries down in the states now can handle WCS and can upgrade it cheaper than we can.
Ie the Cenovus refinery.

I would prefer if the Alberta government would stay out of investing directly into upgrader and refinerys but rather foster a environment that promotes investment from the private sector.

They have a special way of fawking up public companies.

Or the other option would be for AB and Sask to say F@wk you all because of ZERO support; coupled with no interest in economic prosperity. Hold a referendum on becoming the 51st and 52nd states of the USA. Un....F@wking.....Believable... what has become of Canada in just 3.5 years...
Civil war.

I guess you havnt spent to much time around the russian, asian and indocanadian gangs. I think they outnumber the hippies about 10 to 1.

Stop all Rail and Big Truck activity across the border to BC and see how it feels. My 2 cents

Well maybe we should do nothing and let these f.cking hippies will. That's the problem with Canada no one has any BALLS. I have said it before join the USA. F.ck the EAST. No better time then now.

I would prefer to start fresh rather then join the U.S. I'm not so sure they have it figured out either. 6 months from joining them Trump would say we are all criminals and drug dealers. We would be rounded up and deported to Ontario or Quebec.

Tell teh gov and tree hugger to get off the pot... Sick of the tree huggers creating issue but yet they all benefit from the product. So the only way they can rightfully stand up to this is move out of their home and into the back county sell everything they own including their cloths and live off the land.. then you have a right to stand up and complain you cant enjoy the benefits and complain about it

So you dont think that having more upgraders to put more Alberta workers to work, is better than a single pipeline that flows the controversial Dilbit over a upgraded product??? Why was energy east canceled?

This is being protested cause of the “Dirty oil” monicker, and if TMPL is totally canceled than the heavy oil will probably be in the keystone PL on its way to those American refineries. If thats blocked than what????

If yah cant get heavy oil to a high conversion refinery that can process it than where will the future of heavy oil expansion projects be???

Just disgusted by the sway that ~150 hippies, paid protestors and FN have on such a large project with such immense consequences on Canada's economy.

I don’t think the protesters are the problem? IMO
It’s the chicken **** politicians that let it carry on causing the disruptions .

I move a LOT of grain / peas from AB / SK via BC so that is a bad idea! You protest one industry and create hardship for another.

Stop all Rail and Big Truck activity across the border to BC and see how it feels. My 2 cents

you do realize this is going to put undue emotional hardship on truedumb when he has to chose his outfits to wear on the pipeline. also he won't have enough time to practice his dance moves let alone find the right light for his selfies.
