Drones don’t really like to fly well above 8,000 feet lol. Almost lost mine in a strong gust of wind up in Elkford last winter. Overloaded the motors.

I City’s most are 200 feet and you need to call in to fly.

Rural areas are easier with restrictions.

I noticed in strong wind yesterday it moved around a bit.

I’ve never flown my drone in an urban area with any kind of airports near by. Only time I got a warning was when I was on koocanusa, flew across the border and then immediately got a warning about an unpaved airfield. So I shut that down really quick.

If you do plan on flying it in the winter, main thing is keeping the batteries warm. Put one in the goggle warmer or something similar, inside a ziplock bag to keep moisture away. I ran into low voltage issues when it was -25. Battery was charged but didn’t have the power.

Here’s a picture of the day it was too cold and too high elevation for what I was wanting my drone to do.

Out early this morning

So my DJI Spark quite literally flew away on me. I was flying around 150-180 feet and it malfunctioned and all the safety features failed and it took off at full speed. All I could do is watch it fly away. DJI is not doing anything as it was two months out of warranty.

The reason im posting this is to suggest that everyone put a small gps tracker on your drone so if this happens to you you can find it. When the drone loses connectivity the ‘find your drone’ feature pins the last location it had contact not the ultimate landing location. Just a FYI.

That is the second Spark I heard of doing that.

Inspire 2 has been fantastic. Nice having camera for pictures independent of flight camera.
Heated battiers help with cold weather.

But it’s very big and expensive.

Mavic 2 is 1/2 the size. Great drone I might get one for fun next year.

Not sure on price comparison

You can find better prices than these. Mine has the x5 camera. Gives you an idea.

Pretty much decided on the Mavic 2 for a replacement. Trying to decide between the Pro and the Zoom. Both have their benefits. Right now I’m leaning toward the Zoom. Don’t think I’d fully use the additional camera feature in the Proband the zooming ability seems like it would help for what I plan to use the drone for- mainly sledding and wakesurfing.

If if anyone has a opinion I’d be iterated to hear it!

the Inspire is a gorgeous drone but like you said it’s big and expensive. The Mavic 2 has every featurni
could seemingly want and fits nicely in my pack. 31 minute flight time and active track/follow me
mode up to 72km/h... unreal.... expensive (for a consumer drone) but by far the best I’ve seen.

Definitely go for the better quality camera. Pro hasselblad camera is what I’d go for. No replacement for camera quality. Zoom feature seems like a novelty.

Sometimes one has enough problems just flying and keeping the subject in the field of view.

Thats a fair point. The colour spectrum alone is unbelievable on that drone. Over 1 billion colours. Mind boggling.

@FastFarmer... get a Mavic 2. I’ve read every review I can on it- for action sports where you need portability it’s hands down the best drone out there. The sensors and 3d tracking ability, and ability to fly upwards and downwards whole tracking really set it apart.

Hoping for a sale on Black Friday, fingers crossed
