Hey I am wanting to put a slip tank in my truck. I have seen the slip tanks that act as a ramp for the front of a quad so you can close the tail gate with a quad in the box. I would also like to be able to use the slip tank with my Sled deck on in the winter. So I’m curious how everyone else does this? I can’t gravity feed into my truck with it being a gasoline engine. Has any one cut a fuel access door in or something ?

I had a slip tank in my Titan plumbed into the filler neck and vented the slip tank into the trucks fuel tank vent as well so it was a closed system giving off no fumes so it is doable.

I currently have an aluminum slip tank in my diesel with an aluminum sled deck on top. Works good.

I use a switch with a timer hooked up to a solenoid valve so it doesn't overfill and I don't have to physically keep opening and closing a valve.

You can get a custom tank made to fit your needs. Under 400litres (I think) transport Canada don’t care about them. You can gravity feed into you tank, but check with your dealer if your truck will work with that. An old boss of mine did that with the first year of a Duramax and when he was driving and let it gravity feel it would put the truck into limp mode, the computer figured it wasn’t using fuel cause the fuel gauge didn’t move. So he had to pull over and let it fill. Maybe they changed that and maybe most trucks that won’t happen.

My '07 would just scramble km to empty and gauge would go to E and my 16 throws a check engine light if the truck stays at full for too long but neither truck derates. That's why I put the valve on a switch so I can close the tank and avoid the issues of the light.

My late 15’ Eventually just puts the gauge to empty like it’s not working,no engine light i put ball ball valve on it so I just barely crack it and seems to keep up on 1100km trip

I had a tank built that fits under deck. 06 5.9. Electric valve quit working years ago. Never had an issue. There's a ball valve in case of emergency but it stays open all the time. Plumbed into vent line at filler. Still can't figure out how it never overflows out of tank filler spout as it's lower than fuel level when everything is full.

That's what my '07 does. Not sure why my '16 throws a light.

Gas cap is a one way breather, lets air in so tank does not go on vacuum but lets nothing out, fumes are burned through engine emissions stuff...lots of times tanks will leak out the top where the pump or sending unit is sealed.

In them hills.
Can some one clue me into how you mount/secure a slip tank under the sled deck.

I am interested in getting one built, just trying to wrap my head around making it all work.

Mine has tabs on the bottom of tank. Bolted right to truck box.

I just have turnbuckles holding mine in with the deck on top also tied down
