My wife and I are building our house this year and looking for a good window manufacture. We have gone to McLeod and All Weather to compare products and options but just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of companies to look at or stay away from. So far the windows we like are from All Weather, they are aluminum exterior with PVC stainable fir interior and all the other goodies to keep things efficient.

had all weather windows with the aluminum exterior and wood interior on my old house when i replaced all the windows
the only issue i had was the outer aluminum on the windows got dented pretty bad in a hail storm ( 4 months after install) as i think they use a light gauge aluminum
( the window casements that the installer made did not dent from the hail)

Stay away from CWD (now called Ply Gem). Inferior product and they didn't stand behind their product when issues arose.

Also, make sure you have the same people install the product that you purchased the windows from...eliminates the finger pointing.

I recently used Reflect for a large window replacement. They were fast, cheap, did great work, and were very easy to deal with.

Mcleod is decent, they've had some issues but pretty sure they've got them fixed now. Not a huge fan of all weather, good product but found they can't beat Mcleod's price and they no longer let small guys buy direct and their attitude I found was a bit arrogant.

One I would stay away from is Durabuilt, terrible product. Sunrise is also a joke. I would also say fancy windows likely isn't good (never dealt with their windows, only their interior stuff but guessing based on the company).

We put All Weather in our new place last year and have been very happy with them. We went with pretty low budget units and couldnt be happier for the money we paid. Had a few warranty issues (some of which were install errors) and they were fantastic about coming out and getting everything right at no charge.

My quote from McLeod came in higher than my All Weather one. The one thing I like that All Weather offers in the stainable fir PVC interior. We are building a timber frame home so it will be nice to be able to stain the interior window frame the same as the trim and timbers.

Did you have All Weather do the install? The windows we have quoted from them currently are their best quality, well most expensive so hopefully their best.

We had all weather do some windows in the old house about 7 or 8 years ago. Did a nice job and were fast. I'd use them again.

My dad owned a shop here in town for 35 years and I helped him from time to time. Customers were happy with their all weather windows.

I also have them them in my RTM. No complaints.

I didnt. They were all installed by the framers we had. The windows were all fine. The only issue we had was with the doors. Next time I would hire someone who specializes in installing doors, or do it myself and really take my time. Nothing worse than a door that doesnt close nicely.

A few people I know have actually had warranty work done by all weather on units that were out of the warranty period. Pretty awesome to see a company stand behind their products like that. Not something a person can expect, but pretty nice when they go over and above like that. And like I said in my first post, some of the issues with my doors were from the installers. They fixed it no charge.

Well we have been happy with what we have seen at All Weather. And they did give us the interior option that now one else has with the stainable fir so looks like we will continue with them. Glad to hear they stand by their product as we are going to most likely do the installs ourselves (brother inlaw is a journeyman carpenter).
