Rural Alberta Home owner taken into custody after allegedly shooting suspect.

So how are you supposed to protect your property?

Thieves seem to have more rights than property owners.

It’d be interesting to know who called the cops. Probably not a good idea to call them if you plan to take a potshot at a thief.

I like how global closed the comment section on their page.

I will defend my property and belongings at all costs.
I worked for it. I earned it. And I do not believe theives or criminals (No matter how petty) have any rights. I'm all for allowing home owners to shoot theives. Remove the un-needed dead weight from society. If it isn't yours. Don't touch it.

But that's just my opinion. Right or wrong.

Yeah it probably went something like this.

    "Hello 911.
Yes I would like to report a robbery in progress.
Yeah ummmm it's not going to good, the guy I am trying to rob is shooting at me.
He isn't supposed to be doing that, you know, I have rights."

I agree. It is obvious the current system doesn't work.

I'm fully prepared to go to jail. If I catch some scumbag crack head thieves trying to steal my stuff I'm going to try to stop them by any means possible.

More details on the unwanted visitor; seems he has a less than stellar history.

Also, the charges have been laid against the property owner. Three charges of aggravated assault, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

The careless use charge should be dropped asap imo.

Perhaps these thiefs are taking note and starting to realize we aren't waiting for Johnny law anymore and not putting up with this horse crap.

Absolutely. I'd rather be judged by 12 than be carried by 6. Everybody should have the right to defend their family and their property. Couple potshots might make them think twice about coming back.
