So, saw on news that the NWR Sturgeon Refinery is finally producing diesel. Limited for now, but production to keep ramping up. What say you....think diesel prices in Alberta will start to come down??

It was really cheap for me. Free tank on my loader!

Our company was part of construction so we were invited to be part of the first fuel ceremony yesterday. Phase 2 cant come soon enough!

Fuel prices should be more stable i would think moving forward.

In them hills.
Every province needs a refinery like this.

A pipeline to supply it from coast to coast.

And then a finished product pipeline from coast to coast.

With ships at both ends.

I imagine it will be the old supply and demand scenario. As long as they can sell what they produce, little incentive to lower the price. I seem to recall they were a couple billion over budget but still a bargain IMO

Everything on the internet is true???????

There is no way in hell that those bimbo's are Miss USA candidates.

No, it was a parody based on real Ms USA candidates answering the question "Should evolution be taught in schools." ...still funny chit though. "Math is just somebody's opinion" has become one of my all time favorite sayings.

I guess I lead a life that is too sheltered, boring, out of touch, or not with the times................and I keep thinking I'm living the dream!

Here's what I think happens with prices.

No change in price at the pump to start with. However the old game applies: any refinery goes into maintenance shutdown --> prices at all pumps within 4000km rise. So now with one more refinery, that price spike is going to happen even more often.

Diesel surplus is expected for the next couple years thanks to NWR in Alberta, expect better prices for sure. This is from a buddies wife that does fuel marketing for one of the refineries, was interesting for sure when she mentioned that. Guess it makes sense...

If bitumen is refined into diesel in alberta there is a bigger benefit than the pump price, mined in alberta oil sands, refined in alberta plant, burned in alberta vehicles all good, alberta jobs, and the money stays in alberta, win win in my books. Now as long as our climate Barbie and moronic pm in Ottawa don't screw us over in carbon tax this should be a winner.
