The NDP were doing that in Sask in December, the number it came from was registered to a business out east.

Very good. Your initial response seemed abrupt and focused on dislike for Carter rather than what he, and as importantly the commentator said after the Carter clip. So first Canadian and US politics are substantially different in many ways and each system has its' problems both in terms of structure and the people within that system. I acknowledge that the concerns that Carter raises for the US are far less of a concern here in Canada (if at all).
Carter's point was that a large portion of the population is either worse off now or believes they are worse off than they were previously and that causes them to embrace wholesale change in politics. I don't have time to check the statistics but there is a substantial number of people who will vote with their party lines (conservative or liberal) regardless of who is actually representing that party. By recollection that number is somewhere between 40 and 45% for each side so that leaves a possible 10 to 20% of the people who actually affect change in leadership.
So Carter is citing issues that he believe that were a rallying cry for change in the last US election and I think he may be on to something. Doesn't matter whether one thinks he was a good president from 1977 to 1981 (almost 40 years ago) or if he is actually correct AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK he is correct, that is a motivator for the middle to rethink their position and affect change. The commentator seems to predict or propose (I can't tell which) that the US needs to go far left whatever that means in the US but in Canada is our NDP and Green Party.
That is essentially what happened in Alberta when the NDP won and the Liberal party in Canada. There were enough people in the middle that decided to throw the PC's out for reasons that one may agree with or not. I thought the clip was a really good example of the voter state of mind around election time which answered, I think, Etec's question.
So not looking to pick a fight, promote Carter in anyway or anything like that. It is worth considering though what the mind of...I don't know...lets call them middle earth...will be a little more than a year from now. I remain concerned that UCP isn't attracting enough middle earthers to affect the desired change from NDP.

Fair enough. What I disliked about that video was the typical anti conservative bent that was exhibited right out of the chute, talking about “ trump’s authoritarianism “, and later where carter blathered something about trump supporters not respecting democracy. The constant noise from lefties and democrats insinuating that the people in middle America were too stupid to know what they were voting for I find tiresome. They knew exactly what they were voting for, the same way the brits voted for brexit and most recently the Italians voted for right wing populist parties. The constant push by the media supporting progressivism, globalization and the welfare state is destructive to society and will eventually bankrupt every country that is still managing to remain relatively solvent. Millionaires like jimmy carter, the Hollywood elites, Trudeau, morneau etc won’t be affected unlike the rest of us.

I have debated with that group as well... They're a narcissistic group. No one is right but them, and they talk down to anyone with a different view.

unfortunately, the left, centre, right, up, down, sideways and anything in between wants to screw the middle class. There is no such thing as a respectable political party for the people without making up laws on how to control the masses whether thru laws, taxes and fear tactics. The sooner people realize that they need to call out their elected party regardless if they voted for that party we will continue to see this vicious cycle. They say robots will eventually take over our jobs....... maybe we should start with politicians and put a robot on their place.

Government and big business south of us want our natural resources to stay where they are. Coal,oil,lumber,etc. We are a giant reserve . They will keep using up the rest of the world's oil till they really need ours, then pipelines will get built overnight. It's also easier to control the price if our resources are landlocked.
