it will be a frosty day in hell I would give them my approval to check my credit rating. I asked the guy why would they need that and he could not give an answer then I asked him if they sell that info and he still would not say one way or another. Just another way for big business sticking their nose where it don't belong
I hate when any business wants to check my credit. If you aren't my mortgage lender you can pretty much piss off.

I agree. I declined as well not because I was worried they would sell it but rather I do not think it is their e'fn business. I have a healthy mistrust of big finance.

Haha Bnorth. Your post that I thought was so funny disappeared I see. That is almost as funny as the post

We pay $897/year on our house insurance through TD. But I find I have to play games every time with them to get a decent rate, first they quoted us $1600, then called back and was quoted $1250, then called back a third time saying I still wasn't happy and finally got $897, but all our vehicles are with them too. Also makes a difference that we live in town, have a fire hydrant 5 houses down, the fire station is 3.5 blocks away, and our house is only 2 years old.

Up here house insurance varies a lot by postal code, if a few houses have basements flood everyone in that postal code has their insurance go up. Our neighborhood is less than 5 years old so i'm sure as claims begin to be made ours will go up too.

I can literally see the fire hall from my house across the valley...but to drive there takes about 7-8 min. My house insurance is about $3000 a year because of that.
I get hosed as well, seems that unless you live within spitting distance of a fire hall it's 2.5 times what it is in town.

We switched to Costco insurance and saved $1200 a year. Also have heard SGI is reasonable too. They are all crooks. My dad works for an insurance company and one BIG TIP he mentioned was READ YOUR POLICY. Some policies are written in such ways nowadays that it gives insurance company’s ‘outs’ from having to pay your claim

When you guys are getting cheaper rates are you comparing your coverages and replacement rates? If you save 30% are you losing 30% of your coverage value?

your dad is bang on. Had a flood in May and the insurance company rejected our claim because our sump pump sits on the outside of our foundation on not inside (it was engineered that way). Insurance company has in small print on page 38 section blah blah subsection blah blah "sump pump must be within dwelling". Total BS!

That's terrible Dennis. I've never seen one outside though.
